Dec 26th Anza Borrego / Truckhaven anyone?

My brother, a friend and I are going to head out to AB the day after Christmas to do a little playing around checking things out. I haven't been out there in a few years... Anyway, my buddy is new to offroading and we just lifted his 100 series a couple months back and figured Truckhaven would be a cool place to test things out.. from mild to wild and miles of fun.

Anyway, just wanted to put this out there if anyone else wanted to go... Sorry the wife is going so we won't be camping....

((Added: For those that frequent that area often, what kind of condition would AB desert be like after all these rains??)) TIA!

Friends 100, Brothers 60, My 80 and maybe my son's 62

It'll be wet and soft in the canyons where there's all the run off based on what runs in the canyons found during Borregofest off the Outdoor Adventures board. After all this rain...risky. Besides, there's more rain predected for Saturday night into Sunday.

Yea, I've never been out there when it was wet... not sure what to expect. At least for one thing, it shouldn't be too dusty! But if the conditions are bad, might have to head somewhere else.... but I've been itchin for AB for quite some time.

Thanks! Be careful out there! Tomorrow and Wed is suppose to be the heaviest of the rains in SoCal that this storm is suppose to throw this week.

The clouds looked threatening, but dropped very little water until later in the day. The ground was slightly damp so no dust and only light mud as can be seen from one of the photos. I think you should be OK, but stay clear of the cliff walls as they could be weak from the wet soil. We saw plenty of freshly fallen sections of the cliff walls.

Its been a while since I've been to Truckhaven.

We'll be leaving probably early from LA & OC, around 5am ish... taking the 91 around to the 10 and down hwy 86

I think we could meet up here at this junction of S22 & Truckhaven Trail. (33.26869,-116.022019 From Google Maps). Not sure if there is even a sign. But we'll hang out on the side of the road in this general area in case anyone plans to come.. I figured we'll be there around 8:30-9:00 am. We have some smaller kids and not really planning on rushing.. just cruise thru the day... We also plan on hitting up the Pumpkin Patch to let the kids see some of the beauty of the desert.. But I'm up for ideas if anyone else has been to the area and wants to show us around that would be great too

I am going to be camping off Split Mountain Road on the 26th and 27th. If I have time I might sneak over to Truckhaven for a couple of hours and catch up with you guys.
