Wow. I just got my daystar kit from CCOT the other day. Not looking forward to this. I thought I was ordering the energy suspension brand but they sent me daystar. I've got pics of the old mounts and my frame is 02/79 unmolested. I'll upload them so you can see how long the original factory rear mounts and side mounts are.

These are the original mounts that came off my 02/79, rear bumper/sil plate. I blasted and primed them bc I thought I would reuse them but I bought the Daystar Kit. I think the kit is close but a couple bushes need fixed.

@David Clark How did this turn out for you? Did you have to make any modifications or could you use the kit out of the box? I need to order body mounts and trying to decide between daystar and energy suspension. Thanks

Yes. I drilled out the center of the poly bushings to allow the oem steel sleeve to fit. They were much better quality than the sleeves that came with the kit and a bit longer to fit up correctly. Other than that, it was fine. I would check into energy suspension, I wanted to buy them first but didn't. Not sure if they're better or not. I actually think the OEM rubber bushes are still good after 40 years. Prolly could still use them. May combine a few with the poly depending on how the rest of the fit up goes. Still waiting for my suspension parts to come back from powder coat, then I'll get it all back together and post some pics.
Cheers,
Dave

Follow up on my conversations with Daystar support: Turns out they were pretty useless, never sent extra parts they agreed to send. Kept telling me that they pulled a new kit & everything is to spec. They suggested I contact CCOT because "they've installed hundreds of these kits without any issues". CCOT rep was very nice & tried to find someone who knew anything about the issues, but they haven't actually done a restoration in years and no one there knew anything about the kit.

I was able to find the old mounts and I have the large cupped washers that fit over the frame protrusions. I'm just going to figure out how to make it work with what I have.

Thanks for posting this up. I was going to get a set of these and you just saved me a load of trouble. I'm in Japan so if it doesn't work it really pisses me off to have payed to ship it etc. I really appreciate the thoroughness of this thread.

Pete

How is this nowadays, is there been fitment problems? Should I buy Daystar KT04007BK body mount kit for my BJ42 or do I have some other alternative?

Energy Suspensions sells also only Daystar’s kit. Then some Indonesian aftermarket rubber kits in eBay... I don’t know.

Hi, Was the changes ever made by Daystar? Thanks, Mike

I think I bought mine some time in 2019. They are still messed up. They can be made to work though. I tried following the instructions but didn't like the fit. I mixed them around a little to improve the fit and had to modify a couple. I also don't like how there's no way to capture the bed pucks.

Just stumbled across this when I found mine didn't work...same problem.

Solution:
1) Re-use old ones
2) Machine hole indent into new Daystar mount
3) Grind lip off of underside of Toyota one to make it flush

All kind of suck.
