Keyed Gear for 69

Looks like I'm one of the "lucky" ones with the early keyed gear. Put me down for one for a 69, and I will PM you about where to send my payment. I guess there is no easy way to pry these out without breaking??

If that's a pic of your gear then that's the later gear.

Take a paper clip on either side and it should come up without any prying.

I see now, I was looking at just the plastic gear around the center section, not the metal hub after taking a second look at post # 31. Yes, that is the one out of my 69, so it has been changed sometime in the past to the newer gear. The mis-matched bolts holding the entire assembly should have been a clue that this wasn't the first time it has been taken out.

So put me down for a new style gear. PM sent earlier about payment info.

Paperclips?? I've already broken two paint can openers..... I'll just wait for the new gear, then I won't care how it comes out.

This EXACTLY why I say, CHECK THE GEAR FIRST before you say, "I have a '69 so it must be an old gear."

A few years ago, cruiser guy actually had some of these made when he was down in Central America. Apparently, he needed one and had access to a machinist who could reproduce the gear. Seeing that many of us here on the pig forum also needed window gears, he graciously offered to have extras made.

Unfortunately, at the time, I had just installed a new plastic gear and THOUGHT I didn't need one. Three years later, and my plastic one is broken.

I'm hoping Cruiser Guy's plans work out and he is able to make another run of these.......

We will NOT take returns because you failed to check which gear is actually in your truck. 99% will be like the gears I made that are pictured in the beginning of this thread but if you're one of the 1% don't blame me that YOU didn't check!!
