Thanks for the map andy...such a digital tard i had to cut and paste to make sense of it ( literally scissors and scotch tape here ) but thats great and it is similar to the rand mcnally backroads ed. nc atlas if anyone has that.

.... and that would be me sweatin the stipes there:eek: but shes still so purty w/ all 4 flares and the dainty little runnin boards still attached:rolleyes:

concrete...take a look at the map at the house; makes a lot more sense now

LOL I did the same thing Jason, you def. have to cut and paste it together to make sense.......... like I said the one Label Shock Snapper is what I plan on taking in Friday

....... and I would remove those running boards ASAP :D what size tires are you running

OK, JP, i know exactly where you are talking about. I have never driven up that way, but when i had a dual sport motorcycle i rode up that way once. I had no idea where i was going and came out on that road. Anyways, i'll just wait and see.

I'll be joining in on this trip as well. I may have a buddy riding shotgun, if he can figure out how to bribe his whyfe for taking off for a 3 day weekend.

I have that same TOPO program on my laptop. It is a wonderful thing. I use it for planning backpacking trips too. Oh and if anyone is short on camping gear, let me know. I've got lots of extra stuff.

Looking forward to this trip!

but how would i get in w/out my running boards??? plus there is a recent thread suggesting they give you a split second audible warning before you do the real damage:D
i've got 285/75's on the j springs f/r. maybe andy will hook me up w/ some hannas????

UCPRIVATE(but before the gravel road ) that proved to be quite rocky compared to the others.

Jason I believe the road you are talking about is referred to as "rough butt" road...... from my understanding at the very beginning of the trail there was an old wooden bridge that you had to cross and it washed away a few years back due to the hurricanes 2003; not sure if there ever replaced the bridge....... but that trail leads directly to the first nights camp, I am going to check it out when I get up there early friday

this is from a dual sport site it talks about rough butt road: http://www.tailofthedragon.com/other_dual_roughbutt.html

JP, i don't really remember about that trail. Everything turns much more easy when you are on a dirt-bike. Like the trip to old bald, in my cruiser it takes a few hours, on the motorcycle it took about 30 minutes. :)

This is gonna be fun :)

Those trails look easy...I wonder if we can drive through the ravine with no bridge? ;)

Cullowee is a fun place for sure. I'd love to make it but I doubt it's doable for Glynnis and I. She wouldn't miss hoecoming and I hope to have the 100 up at Clem4WD at that time recieving some goodies.

Did you guys get your GPS taken care of? I have some waypoints from the March trip but not for the entire trip. I accidentally bumped the unit and quit recording part of the way through.

I think this is the mud hole that the rover was getting tugged through:

i know that mud hole.....

it just looked like this at the time. :whoops:

ahh the limited traction of mud thats in the process of turning to ice! just goes to show that even the easy way up can harbor a few surprises and yes.... winch before lockers:)

Your pictures do it more justice. It was pretty fun when we went through, didn't look that bad but the ruts were deep. The rovers did not expect to see the Lexus cruise through it. Swampers rock. I believe they strapped a disco through it as JP strapped Alex's 60 too but he was on street tires. I guess maybe the disco was open ended b/c he was on m/t's.

I would like to head up and join you guys on this one. I dont have lockers and I am having a little valve noice but so I am hoping I should still make it and from what I have read I should be fine. Sign me up...

thanks Steve

you will be fine :)

Hey Guys I am in on this one as much as I can. I make the 107 run from Sylva to Cashiers everyday to go to work. I would love to meet you guys and do atleast part of this run. work permitting.

Steve you should def. come up and join..... your cruiser will be fine, you just always have to be prepared for some "east coast" pin striping :D on the trails thourgh the mountains, but that is the worst of it.

We will have several 80 series on the ride so you will fit right in, just make sure to post up what group you will be coming in the AM or the PM, that way we will know to keep an eye out for you!!!

If you have any questions feel free to PM me
