I'll try to remember your vice grips matt.

I'll be meeting the later group at 7pm, does that BP sell diesel??

I would imagine so, but I can't remember for sure......... there are several larger gas stations more towards Cullowhee, so if the BP doesn't have diesel we can go into town.

gehn, which route are you taking up to East Laporte?

so this means you will be in the early group matt?

and you should def. bring your pup......... nothing better than letting the roam out in the wilderness

Still debating it. I will know hopefully by tonight. I want to go early, but have some things I need to do b/f I leave.

Can you PM me your # JP. I cannot seem to find it. Also, what direction did we return last time? I want to head up that way and dont remember all of it. (Going through Pickens and up seemed to take forever and curvy as all get out!)

Bring rain gear guys looks like sat. afternoon could be a little wet :D..............

Did I hear MUD??? oh boy oh boy, last time it was dry and my truck was coated for a week or 2 :)

matt my number is 706 394 7045........

the route you want to take is 76 to 123 in clemson then 123 into seneca, then catch 28 north thru walhala and once north of walhalla you will take 107 north all the way to East Laport

here are the mapquest directions from Clemson: http://www.mapquest.com/directions/...2v=&2n=&2pn=&2a=&2c=east+laport&2s=nc&2z=&r=f

it refers to 123 as 93 on here, so don't let that throw you off. if you need help on the way up just call

see you there

Also a few things to note.

It will probably rain on us at some point while we are up there. BUt there will be lots of sun also. I will put the big giant tarp in the cruiser when I get home so if it does rain no one will get wet sitting around at night.

Bring a chair for you to sit on.
I'm bringing a lantern for light at night.
Bring some rain gear Just in case.
Extra pair of boots
I'll have my winch and tow gear available to help people along as will JP.
Bring a towel if you want to shower Sat night.
If you have a Walkie Talkie bring it. I will bring 2.
Don't forget your camera I hear the Balds where we are camping have unbelievable views.
It will be pretty cool at night so a pair of jeans or long pants might be good.

Call me or JP if you have a problem. 864-414-0563

The scenery at the 2nd night's camp is pretty awesome too. Don't use all of your pics before you get down to the river!! :D

There is a slim chance I can come catch up with you guys at some point over the weekend. Still working on it and if it works out, I'll find you at camp or on the trails.

There are two ways from greenville. One is north to asheville and west on I40, the other coming across hwy11 and taking 178 north to i think 64 and then 107 (?). The second route is shorter mileage but may take a little longer. i am not sure yet as to which route i am taking.

Does some one have an extra chair for me, or save me some room under the tarp where i can back the wagon under to use the tailgate? I have no walkie talkie either :o .

I plan on bringing my D50 and a tripod as well. Marshall, should I bring the gas skillet or not??

yes 64 to 107 is the shortest route but lots o' turns......... I was just going to warn if you take 281 instead of 107 that it turns in to a gravel road for about 10-15 miles. The first time I took it I thought I had made a wrong turn an gotten lost, but it is rather that the two lane highway has never been paved, strange.......

you could also just take higway 11 all the way into walhalla and then 28 to 107, might be better than taking 64 since it is so damn curvey........ you can cruiser 70 all the way down 11 :D

This is what I'm going to try this time. I've gone every way but this one. I'm going tonight so I'm in no hurry. I'm staying at my friends mountain house tonight and helping her clean it up for her party this weekend.

Every other time I have gone via I40.

Take HWY 25 toward Hendersonville
Take Exit 23 on to 26 West
Stay on 26 toward Asheville
Take Exit 1 B on to 40 West
Toward Canton /Knoxville
Take Exit 27 on to Hwy 23
Toward Sylva, Maggie Valley, WCU
Next Left to Exit 74
Toward WCU, Waynesville and Sylva
Take Exit 85
To Sylva, WCU
At 2nd light take a Left
Pass KFC & Wendy’s & Taco Bell on Left
After several (many, many) miles you will pass Western Carolina University on left
Farther down the road the BP Gas station is on the right .

I thought the same thing when I took it home the first time. Strange but scenic. Then it just dumps you into Lake Toxaway.

FYI - 64 to 281 to 107 is shorter (in time and mileage) than 64 to 107 FWIW.

I'll be heading up 23 to dillsboro then dropping down.. I'll bring a stove.

CB's on what chanel?

CB's channel 4.............

what time group are you going for John 2PM or 7PM, not that it really matter just want to know who to expect and when.

7pm

JP Looks like I will be in the early group.

Will you make some World Famous Rotel dip??? PLEASE!!

I took the route from Pickens through sunset up 64. Its really really curvy. Took me forever. I am heading through Clemson to go this time as thats the way we headed back home the other month and it saved time
and headache!

Do we need anymore tarps or anythign else? I will be leaving around 10 or 11 in the AM.
