Copper State Cruisers Monthly Phoenix Meeting notes
April 19, 2019 @ 7:30 PM
Tempe, AZ
First Time Guests
- James (no mud name
yet) was invited by CSC member Todd. He's got a '76 FJ40 that he's owned about a year. He purchased it in Los Angeles (Craigslist find) and had it shipped back to Phoenix. It's got 71k miles showing but suspects it is 171k miles. He's put new tires and new rims but is still looking for stock rims to put on it. Runs excellently so far!
- Paul drives a 2017 4Runner that he purchased brand spankin' new! It's got a rear locker, 3 inch lift etc., and plans to build it out further.

ROTM
-
April's ROTM was led by @LandCruiserPhil.
Events/Trails - April ROTM Kofa National Wildlife Refuge @KeninAZ provided the trip report since Phil wasn't able to attend this meeting. Ken reported that it was an excellent trip with great weather that made for some perfect camping. Apparently @murf
really dislikes mice!

The group visited several cabins and the trip route was very well planned out thanks to the trip leader Phil. The trails weren't difficult but the group did manage to find some things to "play" on.
-
Events/Trails - ♦ 2nd Annual COPPER STATE CLASSIC CRUIZE 4-13-19 Also took place in April, organized by @murf. Large turnout (17 trucks) for this run with many Tucson folks making the trip up!

No mishaps although we did need to make some unexpected detours which just added to the adventure! Some of the Tucson group decided to make it an overnight trip and found a camping spot. We had some FJ40s, a lot of minitrucks, several FJ60s, 4Runner, an FJ62,an FJ55 -- overall a very good turnout!

May - Nothing planned so far??? Any takers on leading something before the weather gets too hot?

Anyone who hasn't led a run before and may be wanting to get their feet wet but isn't so sure about it, let us know and we would be happy to "co-lead" with you or give you ideas of places to go. We encourage everyone to have the opportunity to organize and lead a ROTM.

CSC 15th Anniversary - @OffRoad Rage suggested that since this year is the 15th anniversary of CSC, maybe we can think about getting some special club swag made up to commemorate the event! CSC is one of the most active Land Cruiser clubs in North America. T-Shirts? Stickers? Jackets? Hats? Funky socks? Buttons? There was a good amount of interest from the meeting attendees on wanting to purchase gear if we go ahead and get it made. Apparently there is an old classic logo floating around somewhere, can someone provide that??? We'll get with @Saddletramp the swagmaster to discuss the idea.
@dynamike59 apparently has the ability to make t-shirts and offered to make them at his home if we can come up with a design?

West Side meeting - There was some talk of again organizing a "West Side" club meeting, which has happened the last two years. Any members from that side interested in a meeting over there? The last two years we organized a potluck was well.... calling
@Dimples ?
- @LongDuck put together
HAM Test Challenge - Wave 3, Apr27 - Interested? Anyone interested in using a HAM radio for comms on the trail should strongly consider getting their license so they can legally operate a radio. If you are interested there is testing available every month and we have a lot of study resources and tips for anyone interested.
