I don’t see myself blowing glass out like that a lot.

I probably would not have even tried that obstacle if Johnny and Garrett hadn’t talked me into it

“You can totally make that bro”

It's not like there was a better line on 15 at the top. We all took the "easy" line, lol

In hindsight I would have just winched right up the vertical ledge in the middle since I had to pull cable anyways

Time for some maintenance.

Finally getting around to fixing these bent and broken motor mounts.
Cut out the driveway fab and installing my latest gen swap mount kit!

This setup did work really well right up to when I crashed the truck.

Also finally updating to the correct Nv4500 style bellhousing, and swapping GM input shaft into the transmission. So much more material around the bottom of this one where it matters. It easily weighs double the old SBC part.
Also going internal hydraulic release bearing.

Going forward everything mating the engine/trans will all be matched 00-06 parts, no adapters or funny business. Definitely a major learning experience of what not to do on a truck like this
Also my pilot bearing was completely destroyed.

Also finally got around to heli-coil the two lower bellhousing bolt holes in my block that were striped. One of them I had drilled out and thru-bolted as a trail fix in colorado in 2020.

We keep an aluminum 5.3 block around at my shop for mockup.

My motor mount bracket kit (that uses the OEM 99-2015 Truck/Van isolators, available on my website!)

Unfortunately it appears my frame rails are spread about 3/4” apart which I was not expecting but doesn’t surprise me. Still deciding what to do. Probably just going to extend the long side bracket which is super bummer as I was hoping to just drop my own kit into my own vehicle but such is my life. Lol

That bell housing looks mighty familiar haha

Yes sir, that's the one. For anyone who doesn't know the story, @ryaneddy16 and @mcguirejohnson grabbed this one Craigslist at 10pm at night and then drove overnight across Colorado after I shattered my last bellhousing in Ouray. Legends

Chain binder did the trick. Was able to pull it in about 3/8”. Could have done more but broke the chain binder. I think there’s enough compliance in the mounts to be ok. They install anyways.

I pulled it closer together then original, so it sort of sprung back to where it was supposed to be from there

I though about doing some sort of crossmember but the axle, crank pulley, AC, turbo crossover pipe, etc all sort occupy that area simultaneously

If I hadn't been able to pull it back this much I would have just extended the motor mount bracket and lived with it. This truck is kinda beyond caring about a few 1/4" here and there
