Skyline Wildlife Mgt. Area (just north of Scottsboro - which would put it in the Buck's Pocket Area), is a total wilderness area with lots of roads.
Hunting Season; don't want to be in here

that was in Jan 2015. Do you think they emptied the s***ters by now?

Not sure (last sentence indicated returning them to natural state and so it may be a permanent closure).. In any event, given the prior "brownfield status," I think we should probably camp somewhere's else. Other than the immediately preceding sentence (and Braswell's last post - i.e. not wanting to get shot), I'm agnostic on routes, camping, sites, etc...

Did you buy a new roof rack?

It's going on Yakima cross bars (on the trailer) - like Nolen's set-up. If my trailer is not done (or I decide not to take it), then I'll throw the Yakima bars on the roof and peel out. While it's not Overlander certified, CVT confirmed on the phone that the Yakima and Thule bars are plenty good for load - both underway and static (they even recommend them on their website). I'd rather have an awesome and easy place to sleep than a cool roof rack so I bought the tent first.

It's a pain in the ass on top of a vehicle. I left the crossbars attached to the tent so all I have to do is slide on the feet and lift it onto the truck or trailer. You can do it with 2 people, but it would be easier with 4. If I had garage space I'd get one of those jeep hardtop hoists.

Use it on a trailer once and you will never (that might be a bit strong) worry about putting it on top of a vehicle again. On a trailer or over a truck bed like Heather just did are the two ways to go.

Yep, that said, I think I will mount mine back up on the roof for Big Bend since I am going to be in the truck solo. I will do some cold weather testing with the Eno and the HotSpot prior and if it holds up to cold, I will just use the awning and Eno in Big Bend.

I agree with Bossman, fooling with the tent on the roof is a PITA but still better than on the ground

Is there a plan as to time/place to meet up? I was thinkin I would start that way Thurs after work as its almost 500 miles for me.
Dunno for sure yet, Daryl. Looks like many of the folks will be coming over on Friday, but if things stay straight with us, I'm planning to roll out Thursday. If I were to name a spot (or at least an area), I think it'd be safe to say in the Gadsden - Ft. Payne area.

Hey guys, yer passing through my front yard. I might as well hang on to the caboose. I done tested the rear cargo shelf at Durhamtown-Tellico a couple months ago, so I can hunnerd-camp.
I had never been to lil' river canyon until a few years ago. BLOWN AWAY. 4 decades in this state and never knew such beauty existed up that way. So, I'm not sure what I have on my calendar that weekend, but I'm scratching it out and jumping in the back of the line.
I ain't getting no CB... ya'll got two-ways? Or does someone have a hand held they can loan me?

Plus DNP gone brang me some hunnerd bling that errbody else hates! I LOL, oh... I LOL.

Lemme know, and I'll jump in as ya'll pass through b'ham...
