I agree. I don't want no 'handle' anyway. I mean, other than them love handles.

What is the roll call look like on this trip so far? Just wondering how big of a group this is shaking out to be.

Looks like we have a nice group forming. Looks like 6 for sure: Me, Nolen, DNP, braswell, bossman Daryl & Hagan...

...and possibly Ron, Rick and Godwin and Lenny? Others?

Can you Alabama guys do some Intel and find us some good truck campsites, since the few places we knew of seem to be all closed?

btw, i thinking Nolen is bringing family (if weather is good) and I'm likely bringing my son. Not much can be done or said that he hasn't seen from me, so no need to pump the brakes on ordinary camp stuff...

I'm turrible on intel. This kinda outting ain't never been my kinda thing, so I have no clue unless you wanna camp in the front of the walmarts parking lot. I do that sometimes in my motor-house.
If the group wasn't so enormous, I was gonna post in the DixieLand forum cause I bet a few would wanna meet up. It's only an 1.5 hours from most of us. They love talking about these expedition trails and may have some good tracts to take and stay more on the dirt than pavement.

Well, let's start talking about an actual route and camping options. Of course, this all depends on what everyone wants to do and see, so once we get an idea on that, I have some suggestions to offer.

Also, do y'all want to discuss the route / stops/ etc. on an open forum or would you prefer that I start a conversation (group PM) and let known people join in. Either way is fine with me, just let me know, and I'll get things off the ground for discussion.

Opine here. That way others have record for the future.

I think we have designated you as the planner David. We are going where you
Want.

Let's see sights. Camp away from others if possible.

Book it and we will come.

OK. That's great. Let's start with a place and time to gather. I had planned to go over on Thursday, but if most others aren't going until Friday, I may wait until then. Somewhere in Gadsden, AL would be my suggestion as a southern-most place to meet, because that's where the things I've found interesting in the past sort of begin. Gadsden is at the southern tip of Lookout Mountain (which, as most know, terminates in Chattanooga), so the topography gets "better" there as well.

Thursday, Friday? Time? All chime in, and we'll see what shakes out.

I'm good with a Friday morning meet. As said earlier, I'll prolly drive a chunk of the distance Thursday after work and at least be in the area for Friday morning.

Woohoo!

I'm game for Friday. I'ma jump in when folks come across the Bessemer-Gap.

I'm confident the forecast will change between now and then, but here's the current prediction.....nice.
