I'm just west down the road from Gadsen. Hwy 278. 30ish miles
People are welcome to rally at my firepit.
Loads of acreage for people to spread out Thurs evening, if needed and a shop for any heckling or last min fixes..

Coming back from Atlanta the other day, I was going through the Piedmont.
It's just east of Gadsen but there's some good scenery to cover from there going north to Ft Payne and on.

The Appalachian Highlands Scenic Byway

Cheaha is a Coo Lass area. Has some cool waterfalls that must be hiked to, but some are a quick hike for the less adventurous. And the Skyway Motorway goes right by there.

Seriously. Just tell us where to be and when to be there. Too much input and it all goes to poop :)

I can leave Canton at 7 am.
As a practical matter, I don't see how that's possible. Once it's established when everyone CAN get to Gadsden (on Friday), it's cake from there.

Cake? Friday?

Alright. Assuming everyone is on wngrog time (or thereabouts), how practical would it be for everyone to make it to the Cracker Barrel in Gadsden (on the west side of I-59, right when you come into Gadsden) at noon on Friday? From Canton, MS, Gadsden is 300 miles, so with chillun, prolly 5 hours.......which would put the Grogs there at noon. Just trying to get a reading on this. Sometimes cell service is a little sketchy in the mountains, so catching up later might mean catching up at the campsite.......

We will be there or be square. That said, I never in my life have made it from my house to Birmingham in less than 5 hours. Hell, I can get to Memphis in 2:30 but it takes me 5 hours to get to Birmingham. Crazy. Better make it 1:00 that way all you old people can already eat that garbage food without the Grogans.

Every time I drive to Birmingham, I am convinced they move it further alway. Nolen and I will probably follow each other, so I'd say 1:30-ish on the account of chirren and the Birmingham drift.

I nominate braswell as grill master.

Walls-of-Jericho camping will be at the trailhead on AL 79. This is way the heck up there and almost at the TN state line. If using this campsite then Skyline WMA would be the place to explore but some form of hunting may be underway such as archery or black powder. I don't think high powered gun season kicks in until around Thanksgiving. Skyline WMA map can be downloaded from http://www.outdooralabama.com/sites/default/files/JDM-Skyline.pdf. Friday has been requested off. So that being said. Is there a Thursday evening meet-up?

2F is prepped to go back together with a new head gasket so this could be a fun evening.

If my buddy's work schedule goes as planned, JB, we'll see you sometime Thursday evening. Daryl, what is your ETA?

Run PMC and I are meeting Friday to review the places I have in mind to go / things to see / places to camp. Lots of places I've been before, some I've not, but it's difficult to imagine NOT enjoying yourself in that area of the southeast in the fall......

I am malleable at this point. I can start that way Thursday after work and show up mid morning or wait and leave early Fri morning and meet for lunch.

Sure! All y'all welcome.
PM me and I can send my address. I'll be home at 5ish Thurs PM.
FYI- Google maps works. Garmin will send you on a treasure hunt out here
