Are AR's getting easier to find everywhere? This Walmart in Oklahoma had a stash of 'em...

How much were they? $600-$1000?

This. If the ATF wanted to be a dick, they could bust you for constructive possession just for having the adapter and a stash of oil filters for your 80. Better to just buy the real deal.. and then at least you'll be able to use the sights on your weapon. And if you are into risking federal prison sentences, you could probably find an "oil filter thread adapter" marketed as a solvent trap on ebay for about $10...

Yeah it would make a great spare in case your original suppressor went out lol

Come on Bodean , you can' t see the prices at that walmart from here?!?

I'd get my Lasik money back

I know what they were before the big push and was just wondering. I didn't make the pic bigger until just now but yes I can see them now. :-)

I'm cross posting this from a thread I started on the hunting and fishing forum, it definitely applies to those of us with Gun Trusts in Hinds County (and Rankin from what I hear)...

If you haven't been following this, basically the Obama administration ordered the "trust loophole" closed for NFA purchases. So if you use a NFA trust to get around CLEO certification for individual ownership, your ability to buy an NFA item is about to become nil. I am probably not the best to speak to this, but as I understand it, all "responsible persons" will be required to submit photos, finger prints and CLEO certification to purchase an NFA item. So if you are like me and live in a jurisdiction where the chief of police will not sign off on a Form 1 or Form 4, you will no longer be able to purchase an NFA item. Even if you aren't using a gun trust, or have a cooperative CLEO or don't currently own a nfa item, this might infringe on your rights in the future. Official comments period is open now. I ask you to read the proposed rules change and make an official comment on the below website.

Yeah, this is not looking good for us pions.

Hopefully my can will be approved before the ruling.

I'm hoping that everything in the hopper will be grandfathered in, but nobody knows. It would be a huge nightmare for the ATF to have to send everything back out for resubmittal. I submitted a form 1 for an SBR a couple weeks back in hopes that they grandfather the existing applications.

My dealer got an error letter on my Form 4 a couple weeks ago, so I'm not happy with him at this point. Of course, the NFA branch of the ATF has been shuttered with the .gov shutdown, so nothing is getting approved or even working towards it at this point.

Do an official comment on the rule if you haven't already.

Hey, congrats on sending in the paperwork on the SBR.

Are you SBR'ing an AR lower, or something all-together different?

Speaking or AR lower ..... finally got my 10. Bit I'm gonna wait until after Xmas to build it. Too many current projects.

Nice! Cmmg lower? You thought about what you are going to do to finish it out?

Obligatory pic of mine. Not a true AR-10, but probably as close as I'll get. Don't think I can justify more than one of these with as little as I shoot the .308.

Yup, CMMG lower. Still doing my homework as to the exact parts I'm going to use. Definitely 308. Any input would certainly be appreciated.

Georg

Unfortunately, the options out there are probably less than 1% of the options available for a 5.56. I honestly can't say that I know anybody that has built a .308. Most of the options are factory built. I know Rock River makes good stuff and they offer a factory built .308 upper. But a lot of the companies making high quality .308's don't offer the uppers separately to my knowledge (LMT, LWRC, Larue, Colt, etc..). Some of them are proprietary in terms of pin location, etc.. I know DPMS and CMMG make complete uppers. I'd probably go Rock River out of the 3. Keep us posted!
