Getting ready to dig in during the next few weeks and making sure I have everything I need as I hate doing things twice.

I'll be replacing the PHH as the main priority (bought flex head gear wrenches for this specifically), but want to go ahead and get some of the other issues out of the way. I have an OEM heater control valve, Gates green stripe heater hose with constant torque clamps, OEM red coolant (2 gallons unmixed), new OEM thermostat, and new OEM radiator cap. It was suggested that removing the starter and rebuilding with new plunger and contacts is a good idea so I will be ordering that too.

Are there any other hoses or O-rings or other bits I should go ahead and replace while the coolant is out (radiator hoses/other heater hoses...part numbers or common description/name would be appreciated)? Not interested in bypassing rear heater...worked really nicely for the kids in Tahoe.

How long is my radiator good for this world? It's the original 1994 3 row brass. Truck has 122K miles. I don't want to spend unnecessary cash and replace things just for the sake of it, but if it's a likely goner anytime soon, I'll pony up. My preference would be to keep the OG radiator for two more years (about 10K miles) and replace that piece during the next coolant flush.

Anything else I'm missing or need to consider...overflow container maybe? TIA...

If it were me , I'd replace the two Orings in the pipe that hold Tstat, it pull s up and out with another small pipe it has two Orings, one side goes up to the head other side goes down I'll take a pic easier to show, could do water pump also , radiator is prob close or maybe not but I'd buy one 330 when I got one from Toyota last year, and do all heater hoses including the throttle body ones, I am also believer in green coolant over red, I change my coolant every other year and it's cheaper

Perfect...thanks! I didn't realize there were two O rings on the T-stat...will order. I do have a brand new water pump in the parts box (forgot about that) so I guess I'll replace that too.

The Orings I'm taking about are in piece I pointed too one to the head and one to where the bottom attaches then once that pipe is pulled off there is another tube like spacer where one those Orings is at on top, pull that little pipe inside and there is one in bottom you can't see till it is removed, good time do rear delete also if that appeals to ya

The tstat has the one Oring that comes with it, the piece I'm pointing to has 3 Orings one on the head then two on the bottom piece of that mine as well change them I do not know part number for those, you have to look them up or call onar

I used the local O'Reilly's for the orings. They had a box in the back with an assortment of sizes that worked.

If it were me...

Tstat
Water pump
Coolant bypass, nipple and o-rings
Silla 2" 2 core aluminum radiator @ $126
Adjust and rebuild fan clutch

You'll be able to idle endlessly in triple digit heat while blasting cold air from the AC as I do.

Firewall heater hoses as well!

Yep...will do! Just need to find the part numbers for the hoses...I think there's like 8 total heater hoses, but can't find a thread that lists them. :hmm: I went ahead and ordered an OEM black hub fan clutch as well and am strongly considering just biting the bullet and replacing the rad with an OEM 3 row brass.

I replaced all of mine except any curved hoses with gates green stripe ½" and ⅝" and mostly Toyota spring clamps and a few Toyota screw clamps.

This was posted on another thread.

I can see from this picture that I should replace the 4 hoses for the rear heater (I believe the two upper hoses that supply and return the rear heater I already replaced). Is Gates green stripe OK for those hoses and if so, what diameter are they?

1/2". The Gates green stripe will work but the wall thickness will be a bit of a pain to work with since the hard pipes are so close together.

So is it better to go with the 3 Core than the 2 Core that my 1997 calls for ??

Everyone will have an opinion but no empirical data to genuinely support or discount either. I'm choosing the 3 row brass because that's what came in the 1994. The 1994 has been determined through a double blind study to be the bestest eva! ;)

The brass won't corrode as quick in long haul of things plus three row

Just call @beno since he just gave you everything you're looking for.

He may not be the cheapest, but it will be right.
