I've always wanted to do this project. I love the look of wrinkle black paint with exposed metal letters. This has transformed my engine bay and brings a smile every time the hood is open.

It took a while to do it right and fix some minor things while the valve cover is off.

I applied some grease to the raised letters to prevent the paint from sticking.

Paint used: VHT Wrinkle Black

The engine didn't look too bad for 190K miles.

Fixed the exposed metal coil around throttle cable with some 1/2" heat shrink tubing.

Bolted the cover back on with some shiny new bolts.

Put on the plastic spark plug covers. Did NOT like the skunk look so I wrinkled those too.

Applied the engine sticker (from Beno) before painting. Looks sharp.

Pretty happy with the results.

That sticker from Beno is worth 5 hp.

The sticker delivers a measured 10 bhp at the wheels!
