What: STLCA Club member workday

When: Saturday 12/08/07 9:00AM (flexible)

Where: Roger's Shop in Manchester, TN (Exit 105 I-24) Full directions forthcoming

Why: 1. Steve wants to rebuild his front axle (FJ80)
2. I need to rebuild both my frt axle and 3rd (FJ40)
3. We'll have two other spots to work on rigs so sign up if you want
4. The club has the SSTs needed for the job and I don't
5. Roger has much better tools and equipment than most of us


Details: This will serve as both the December Nashville and Chattanooga Meetings and we'll finalize the plans for the New Years Day ride. We'll grill some burgers ~noon and feel free to bring some brews, hang out, shoot the s***, and get a little dirty.

So, hope everyone can make it! Post up if you can make it and let me know if your rig needs some work and we'll add you to the list. This is a great opportunity to maybe try something that normally you might not feel comfortable doing by yourself. (this is pretty much why I ride with Roger)

I think there is a medical professional that can provide gloves, if not I know a cop type with access to some very strong uber gloves!

I am picking up a split case in Cumming on Monday for FREE FREE FREE. The catch is that it needs bearings and is disassembled. I believe it is from an 87 62. If I can get the rebuild kit by then I would like to try to get it together.

the key word is assist, i handle land cruiser parts everyday and sat. is my day off. but tech assistance will be gladly offered.
if there is going to be any knuckle work or diff work, consider the belray waterproof knuckle grease and diff lube if you want the best protection. just call if you want me to bring them. be sure to call for anything you need before hand, so i'll be sure to have it in stock for meeting.

He has closed his repair shop but continues to run a mail order parts buisness . He has attended all but one GSMTR and has donated raffle prizes to all the GSMTR's. Chris he is a T-case expert and probably has the parts you need in stock.

GREAT! I will give him a call once I get it. I am unsure of the year but I believe it is an '87. has class that day so I told her I was going to be in Manchester and she was, "Whatever" so I am in!

i'm running baby! painter my trailer too this week.
roger came over and observed the process. bought a 74 fj40 while he was here too. great potential for a trail truck or spare rig. he also said i had fire ants, i just thought it was mo-skee-toes biting me. they sting like heck!

Excellent! It hasn't been the same without you. I'm not sure what we can get going in November, since we're going to be working on Marie's 62 over Thanksgiving week, but we might be able to ride in Dec. You know the door is always open at the house if you want to ride up here. ROB

Looks like a great Cruiser gathering. Are there tools/supplies that need to be brought along if I can join the party? For example, I have the Toyota specialty tool for defining the shim stackup with knuckle rebuilds (pre 80 series axles) if the project line-up could benefit.

The description my wife would offer of the Cruiser stable would be significantly less complementary => she actively questions my sanity with no regard to tact on this issue. Regarding the 80 series in the sig line, it is Carolyn's truck. Since it is her alternate set of wheels, I have no problems with taking credit for the 80.

I second the request for what supplies we need to bring...I also plan, if I dont get to it sooner, to replace the front pinion seal...its leaking profusely.

So, what I KNOW I need is:
1 - axle rebuild kit from Kurt
1 - extra inner axle seal
1 - pinion seal
1 - FJ80 FSM
Alot - Papertowels
Alot -

15w75 Gear lube (if I drain and replace my transfer case and rear diff while Im at it, plus the front rebuild, how much do I need to bring?

What about grease? Do I need to bring grease and if so, how much and what kind?

Is someone bringing rubber gloves or do I need those as well.

I want to make sure I have everything I need, so please post up anything else I/we need to bring.

a bucket or large pan. i had some runny diareah come out of my 60 knuckles. the axle fluid eventually mixes with the hub grease once the seal goes bad. i'm sure roger is used to this kind of dirty-ness and has plenty of oil spots on his driveway to prove so.
