so, we took the Walnut Canyon trail through White Canyon, and then took the western fork of the Walnut Canyon trail down to the river - we then crossed the river and came out on Florence-Kelvin Highway

no carnage to report, except that about 3 miles before returning home, one of my softtop buckles broke, sending the softtop into convulsive flopping  :meh:

I will have to launch a complaint to the maker <--- - yeah, I sewed the softtop myself 15 years ago; you just can't expect the plastic buckles to stand up to the Arizona heat and dryness

Steve and I crossed the river upstream from the lunch spot and headed back up the eastern side of the loop. We chose correctly yesterday when we went down the right split. Coming up the other side this morning was a bit technical. Doable, but there was some puckering going on in the 40.

thanks for confirmation on the choice - and thanks for everyone who spoke up about their preferences
