Bell Lexus having a sale RN. $342 shipped. Thanks for sharing the part #'s.

Dang my bad. $342 was total savings. Its actually $494 shipped, both sides. I got a little too excited :banghead:
hahha! I opened their site to double check.. If I could get another set of OEM Sport for $342... id probably buy another set to hold onto lmao (or modify further)

Had a great trip with the oldest kiddo. The extra room the GX offers vs the Trek was sure put to use!

Well, we're looking at some small camping trailers now.
I just ordered everything Ill need to install one in both the GX and the wife's 22 Telluride.

I went with the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty vs the Elite.
We're getting a small enough trailer so both the Telluride and GX can tow, the GX having a larger tow capacity. In comparing the two controller options:

There was a ~$60 difference between the two and I dont think the options "lost" would be needed for either vehicle, plus im buying 2 of them.

I think im going to replace the rear air bags as preventative maint since they're 20 years old with ~194k miles.

More pieces of the puzzle just arrived

Now just waiting for 1 more wire harness and 1 bracket to have everything at the ready. Those should arrive this afternoon pending nothing out of the ordinary happens. Then to find some time to solder/shrink wrap everything and install.

Last parts arrived yesterday, also put a deposit down on a trailer yesterday lol.. so wiring sooner than later.

Got both under-dash harnesses complete for each car

Soldered and shrink wrapped each connection

wrapped all the joints as a whole to minimize bending.
Gunna try to get the GX completed today - Telluride will have more work since I need to install the 7-pin connector in the rear.

How'd she tow?

FYI you might need to a different drop hitch for the back to get the trailer sitting about 2-3" higher (basically perfectly level).

hah yea, literally 3hrs before we were going to leave to pickup the trailer, I said to myself "oh, I need to install the hitch/ball!"

Turned out that I only had a couple 1-7/8" and a couple 2" balls. The trailer has a 2-5/16"... Online said 2" would be "ok".. but id rather have the correct part. So I ran out to Harbor Freight to nab just a ball really quick to install on a bare hitch (actually had to go to a 2nd location because even though online said "limited stock" it was actually zero..

Tested all the lights/signals and the brake controller at teh dealer before we left, everything working as it should :)
They had filled the fresh water tank before we got there, so there's close to an additional 350lbs on board already (41 gallon fresh). Just drove it straight home, about 2 miles away hahaha. GX didnt feel a thing, other than some bumps in the road from the trailer.

We have our trial run planned in 2 weeks, so it should be a good test. Will be about 65 mile trip and gain about 2,400ft elevation

Lots of little things to do to the trailer, also a WDH arriving today to setup.

Well, I was wrong about the total elevation gain for our trip.. I saw our endpoint was 2400ish ft.. but We actually got closer to 4,100-4,200 and then dipped down into a canyon.

I did watch the dash gauge rise above the halfway mark for the first time ever. It was a short punchy grade, so luckily it didnt last long. As of right now, our next trip is Labor Day weekend (miiiight try to squeeze another quick trip in depending on our weekend availability and camp site(s) avail.

Other than the slight gain in temp, the GX did awesome. Im going to try and hold out till Black Friday to nab a CFS radiator and the Hayden external trans cooler.

For my first time ever backing a trailer up.. ill take it lol

Got intentionally close to the large rock in the back.. these campsites were NARROW (biggest/only complaint about this place)

Havnt driven the GX since we've been home, other than to unhitch and drive to the gas station this morning.

Last fill up was last Thurs before our trip and the prior tank was used to drive to/from the cabin - so 90% highway (though gaining over 6k ft going) vs the first time towing the trailer.. bit of a hit lol (to be expected)

Had found a great sale for a ScanGauge 2 over the 4th of July. It arrived while we were down south in LA visiting some family for handful of days.

Wanted to mount it somewhere easy to see/read/manipulate and easy to remove if/when need be.
This is a rough proof of concept which I think should work nicely (using a bunch of random scraps in the garage lol)

Found my placement to mount the gauge. Large washer to help distribute the "load" on the plastic. Put some electrical tape for cheap insurance if there was ever any rubbing on the ribbon connector

Threaded knob to hold it in place and easy to remove (might use it between the GX and wife's Telluride for towing).
Made a slit in the drivers side window visor clip to hold my mounting plate.
Scrap aluminum bent and drilled a couple holes for mounting

Test fit

I originally put the lip on the aluminum bracket to help hold the SG in place, but the knob is more than plenty.. so will probably remove the "shelf".
Also still need to run the cable for the SG up under the headliner and down the drivers A-pilar.
