Maybe a mile from my house to dirt. Chicago lives even closer.
There are miles and miles of trails right in the hills behind where we live. Mostly just pole line roads but a few challenges thrown in.

Yeah...we DO live in a pretty awesome area. Ive been looking out for "testing grounds" to check flex and clearace while walking "G MAN" out there by the power station.

I COULD wheel "DASH" the MIGHTY STOCK TACOMA...a LITTLE!

Besides...if you dont get some new shoes for the 40, you might be sittin out this summer too on some of the BIG runs!!!:flipoff2:

Tank mounts are tacked in!:bounce::bounce2:
Cant wait to get THIS tank s*** DONE!!!!!

It looks like Inteco and Pitbull are coming back on line with more sizes. Maybe I can get another set of 36" bias ply Super Swampers.:grinpimp:

Never did air up the tires, the weather looked good so we took off this morning and spent another day cruising the hills. BTW I'm loving the 2WD low option, it almost makes the front auto locker bearable. It still wants to get sideways in the off camber mud situations though.

I'm actually looking forward to that as well. I remember with the blotch rig, the stock pump did not like the locker at all. I think it'll come in handy for sure.

Keith,

I like the mounts; however, I would be a little worried about the portion that you have tack welded to the side of the tank. How thick is the tank material? I would be worried about the weight of a full tank bouncing down a trail and eventually fatiguing the metal of the tank. The mount looks to be pretty substantial, so I would expect the side of the tank to "rip" away. I would probably run a "strap" down from the mount you made and under the tank to create more of a cradle for the fuel tank. You don't have to strap the entire bottom, just a small 1 inch "L" shaped piece that wraps under the bottom for an inch or so and connects the mount/side/bottom.

Make sense?

Jack

I does...that is why I opted to make that scap plate. id rather NOT deal with straps, which is why I made the mounts the way I did. Unless you are saying to WELD a strap and connect it TO the existing mount for a little more surface area, that wraps under the tank?

BTW, the tank is 14 ga. Not too heavy, but...substantial. The scab plate is 3/16 and the brackets are 1/4.

Should have stayed in bed this morning. Welder took a s*** this afternoon. The feed switch must have gone out, cuz the spool isn't working at all. Also decided that I hate my seat cradle and am seriously considering scrappin that altogether and possibly tying it all into the cage.

Yea, should have just stayed in bed.

Welder is fixed...turns out Im a DUMB ASS and had the power settings IN BETWEEN, ACTUAL settings on the dial.:o:doh::bang:
Apparently the wire WONT feed when that happens. Found that by actually taking it into the local weld shop where THEY found it.

AWKWARD!!!

I had the same thing happen right when I bought mine. Had to have brother n law come over and see what the hell was wrong. Family get togethers are so fun now. I think he lives to see me F&^*k stuff up.

I'm glad I 'm not the only one who does s*** like that.

Yeah...I had to laugh at MYSELF too with that. When the feed cut out, I immediately messed with the wire control knob, but didnt TOUCH the power control. Lesson learned. I was SOOOOO grateful it wasnt the spool drive motor. That would have been about 2 bills for a new one of those. Initially, I thought it was the trigger switch, so I picked up one of THOSE and installed it BEFORE I took it into the man. It wasnt THAT expensive, so now I have a new trigger.:D
