You need some bump stops to keep those springs from going past flat if you want them to live.

Looks really great though.

I would never tell anyone how to live their lives so please don't take it that way.

I used to purchase from breeders when I was younger but now I rescue.

I got Duke, my brindle Great Dane from Big Dogs Huge Paws, Inc | rescue | rehabilitation | resource

I am not affiliated whatsoever but wanted to give you another viable option. I have seen some gorgeous, mild tempered Bull Mastifs come through there.

I'm also getting ready to extend my bumpstops. My 4x4 labs steering hits the frame.

On top of the bump stops.
Knew that as soon as I saw that side.

I hear ya on the rescue.
For a second dog, we may look into a rescue, but were pretty set on a pup.

its best to start them in the car / truck while they are young.... be prepared for motion sickness. Sometimes as the dog matures they just never get over their issues with traveling. I've had dogs that we "adopted"...there were 4-5 years old and they simple jumped in and never looked back, I've had others that you had to drag into the vehicle (like to see the DVM) and no matter what they were not liking it.

From my experience (our dogs who were mainly outside types).....generally like riding as long as they could get fresh air and were able to stick their head out and survey the area...they liked riding in the back of a pickup truck. Other dogs seem adjust just fine and will even sit in the seat and be well behaved (I was never able to get ours to do that...but did not spend a great deal of effort as this was long before I got into 4wd). The less stressful the einvironment is the better....the dogs pickup on the owners mood..etc.

Sorry to hear about your loss....I'm a big dog fan too and they become part of your family and its tough to deal with their passing and health issues.

Thanks man!
Ive discovered that part of my grieving process involves preparing for the next one. Looking at breeders, thinking about training and considering how to incorporate the new pup in the scheme of the rig when we get him.
Kinda why Im looking at ideas of what you guyz do when wheeling with your 4 legged children.
Someone mentioned a kennel...I see that, but for us...its not realistic. That would have to be one BIG ASS kennel for the bullmastiff, and we don't plan on kennel training either.
I talked with Rover67 about this cuz he wheels with a great dane and he gave me some helpful tips. You don't get much bigger than a great dane, so his suggestions were very applicable.
I suppose the first thing is to just take him with us everywhere we go and (as you all have said) get him used to being in a vehicle from the start and go from there.

This is a GREAT SITE BTW...Scrolled through it.
LOTS of great danes and great Pyrenees:frown:

Thats tough, I feel your pain.
We had a great Pyrenees that died while we where on the boat, had a dead struggle for 2 hours and there was nothing we could do. It breaks your hart, she finaly put her head down at our feet and went peacefully. I actualy get tears in my eyes typing this down.
It's like you lose your child, it's been over 10 years and I still feel the pain.

Sorry Michael...

He was a bullmastiff.
I knew it would be a tough thing to go through. I had always empathized with others who had gone through this and dreaded the day it would come for us... Funny thing is... The reality of this is far worse than I had ever imagined it. I had no clue.

He was MY FIRST DOG. I mean, the first dog that was MY dog. I grew up w/ dogs...
Were looking into breeders NOW that are within driving distances (days travel).
Gunner did NOT like to travel in vehicles for very long, so unfortunately, he really NEVER had gone wheeling with us. He would have had a panic attack I think.

I feel your pain, I have considered what it will be like the day I loose my dog. He is the first dog that I got for ME and have had him since he was 4 weeks, he is now 5 and a half years.

I'm pretty sure I'll miss some work over it. He has gone wheeling with me since he was a meer 5 weeks on the short out and back trips, and have also gone to some 4 day events also.

It makes me tear up at just the thought of not having him in my life. I would kill for that dog.

I'm really sorry for y'alls loss.

You've seen the set up I have for Jake in my 40, the carpet is the key. I know we should have a harness for him in all the cars, for his safety and ours. I'd hate to take 85# of fluffy black poodle in the back of the head if we even got in a wreck.

We had Jake on Barney Riley when he was just a few weeks old. Now when he sees the boots go on and the day pack come out he starts dancing around. He even gets excited whenever we turn off of pavement onto a dirt road.

Funny thing is he can jump into the 40 when we leave the house but it's to tall to jump into when it's time to go home.

Dogs can be just like raising kids. My kids many times couldn't seem to hear me, no matter the volume. But, whisper "ice cream" to somebody else and they were right there wanting some. Funny how dogs can be the same way.

I got to sit in the drivers seat for a while tonight, just in the garage but still....

It was very very nice, everything is in just the right spot and the seat just kind of holds you. If Cruisers were women I'd be in trouble with mine right now.

Lol!!
Thanks for coming over and checking out those sensors. VDO doesnt have a tech line, so I'll have to figure it out.

The trans temp sending unit values we measured were way out of whack with what they publish, I'm kind of wondering if the trans sending unit is fubar. 4400 ohms is a LOT more than 800 ohms.

I wonder if the difference in the water temp sensor between the VDO sending unit and the ECU sending unit could be location on the block? At least it measured close to the VDO published value.

Thanks Georg,
I recall that you had a bullmastiff as well. It S T U N G to have to let him go!:crybaby:
Been looking into breeders if you wanna know! There's one not too far away from you...Guardian bullmastiffs Guardian Bullmastiffs, Valley Springs, California,,   bullmastiff puppis for sale. bullmastiff puppy. bullmastiff puppy for sale. bullmastiff breeders, bullmastiffs breeders California, northern California ... breeders, bullmastiff breeders nort
She is just getting her dogs lined up progressively and is not too well known yet, but all are AKC registered and such. She is about 30 mi away from where you are.
She's gonna have 2 litters this spring. Just FYI!
The male shes breeding her females with is a big ole boy. He is coming in from another kennel. Nice looking dog.
Little spendy, but the bully's typically are! around a grand, or so.
There is also a breeder were looking at here in town that is pretty well established. Actually, the ONLY breeder in Nv.

Thanks again!

So I don't quite don't know why, but the temp gauges are NOT reading right. The trans temp isn't working at all ( I think I just wired that wrong as there's no power through the wire), but the coolant temp is just OFF. It reads 150 in the gauge but the obd scanner is saying 195 at that reading on the gauge.

Anyone know anything about aftermarket gauges/ wiring???

Made some "man tackle" bumps for the front!!!
Was looking at the 4 in bumps, but didn't wanna spend the cash.
The vet bills for our pup kinda put a huge dent in my checking...
