ALSO....My chassi harness came today!!!!
So for the next few days, Ill get the fenders in, the radiator, etc in so I know how to route the chassi wiring.

I'd do the brakes, clutch and steering before the fenders; most of the heater too.

BTW...about how much space is needed to get an OBD code reader into the diagnostic port?
The way its routed, to mount it UNDER the dash where its accessable, it ends up RIGHT NEAR the cage...

No idea, but aren't you going to have one when you start the engine? I guess you don't need it, but...

Wow man, you are getting there. Keep it up!

AAAAAAHHH....YEEEEEEES!!!:D

Ed,
Brakes are done with the exception of the soft lines, Im running an auto so the NO clutch and the heater...well...that's probably a good idea.:hhmm:

Jack,
When I talked to the guy at howell, he said that the VSS IS on the tail housing on the trans, so there will be NO ISSUE with the ECU in low gear. HOWEVER, I had read in the forums that if the computer is not programmed with the tire size and gearing that would cause an issue...which, now that I think of it...would be the same issue that were discussing. I have a thread on it in the Pirate forum as well.
Also, the shift sensors on the trans...The dont bother with them at Howell. So you were right and the rig will start in all gears. Not sure how I feel about that.:hhmm:
Re. the LAZY...I was hoping that I could BUY a bracket as opposed to making one, which is what I meant by being lazy...
:D

the term you are looking for is called pinion factor , it determines your tire size gear ratio and final drive so that your trans knows how to shift and your abs knows how to stop

Stop me if any of you see anything, cuz Im going by the seat of my pants here.

This is just drop dead sexy. Absolutely on of my favorite builds so far in any forum. I can see why you chose this over the 60 series but you are still a traitor..:flipoff2:

Only thing I can see is where the wire loom goes through the body is double protect it with loom, tape etc.

Top notch as always.

Most of the times it's a plug, say 2,1/4", with a whire so you'd be oke.

Ah... Thanks man!
I still love the 60's, but it was a sledge hammer for finish work for the trails I like to run and keep the body straight.
Appreciate the props.
Spent most of my evening searching for 2 in grommets for the firewall holes. Roger in the loom wrap going higher.

I'll call em tomorrow. Hopefully it's as simple ( if anything needs to be done) as a re program.

Keith: Are you going to leave the wire bundle as is passing through the firewall? I'd, at least, install rubber/vinyl trim around the metal to make it less prone to chafing.

Like this "self gripping vinyl edge trip": http://www.mcmaster.com/#vinyl-trim/=dvfnet

Or even take 1/4" or 3/8" fuel line hose and split it to length and silicone it in place...

Assuming of course you're not going to be able to use a grommet.

Sorry...just read your post 2887 again and I see you're on it!

Yeah...NO WAY I would just leave that hanging there like that!
Any place LOCAL that sells those that you know of????
I DO LOVE McMster Carr though, but if I could find it here, that would be MO betta!

I've not found a source for it locally. However I have several sizes of small pieces in my pile...lemme know when you want to come up and take a look.

Summit sells fire wall grommets... A brand called seals it. You actually bolt those to the fire wall, but they are PROUD of those. For the 2 piece, split type is like 28 bucks!!!! The hole size is 2 in.

For whatever reason the MMC link I posted didn't take you to the correct item page...fixed it sorta .

Anyway a grommet would be best. But if you can't pass the loom through a smaller ID grommet (unless its a two piece design) then the vinyl/rubber trim would work I think...but not as neat as a grommet.

Go down to ORiely and look at one. I think they have a loaner you can borrow too.

Pick and Pull? It's a problem common to all makes of cars. You should be able to find one that is still in good shape on something they have down there.

I have a reader and also a computer cable for full monitoring. Both use cables to connect so the reader size isn't an issue. The stand alone reader is only a little larger than the plug and can swivel around on the cable. As long as you have some room for the reader that is close to the plug you should be OK.

Okay... So I talked directly to the programmer at Howell direct re. The VSS signal while in low gear.
So he said that MIGHT AFFECT the drivability while in low gear. However, off the red main harness plug, he instructed me to run a ground from pin 16 which is the 4wd low pin So that should indicate a low gear and all should be good.

Guess I'll find out!!:)

Rusty, I hope you will know how to do this. :D
