Kinda brings some new meaning to my comment:

I'll take a pair of these.

To get back on track, does it hit the spring, in front of the top plate? I thought about that. It would save me from having to redo my rear brake line.

Ill go so far to say that YOU NEED a PAIR of these!:flipoff2:

Yes, it does hit in front of the top plate.
If I were to center it as it SHOULD be over the plate, Id have had to re make everything and EFF around with cutting angles and crap. At this point Im trying to keep things as simple as possible. Its easy to change later if there's an issue.

BTW...got the E brake mounted and FUNCTIONING!:bounce::bounce2:

Waiting on a set of tail gate hinges and cables from summit and also ordered an optima battery tray from ruff stuff.

Ive been reading some threads over on pirate re. the MT fenders and the skirts. Dude that works for Mark posted up about leaving the skirts OFF for engine cooling????
I thought this was pretty interesting since I hadnt thought of that. I DO PLAN on making some kind of fender skirt, but....I MAY JUST leave it partially OPEN for this reason.
Im being FORCED to run a remote trans cooler as the space is so limited in front of the bib, that I dont feel confident that the tube and fin coolers will do the job at low speeds. So ive been looking at the Derale coolers for the task and am actually planning on mounting it on the fender at the skirt. Itll get air flow that way, stay a little cooler and be very accessable.

Any opinions???

AAAAW....now see...You guyz go and take a nice, CLEAN, FAMILY ORIENTED thread and kick it STRAIGHT INTO THE GUTTER!!!!

:flipoff2:

IMO, there is some ENVY happening!

yea thats my jobs you a holes!!

all this man tackle stuff made me miss some pages.

IMHO the negatives of running open fenders would far out weigh any minor cooling advantage you would gain.

I dont really see to many negatives other than engine parts gettin dirty faster, but I do agree that I dont think you will have cooling issues requiring you to runn with no fender liner. The truggy doesnt have any front fenders or liners nothin and even in some of the mud it doesnt get the engine that dirty. :meh:

Not TOTALLY open... My thought was to skin about 3/4 of the fender well.
Waiting for time (Michael) posted the idea of building a frame FOR the skirts. This would actually only work EASILY for the rear most portion of the fender which consequently is where MOST of the splash up from mud and crap will get into the bay. I actually NEED a better part of it to be skinned as it will also allow some safe surface area for running lines, wiring etc. Honestly though, in my travels between here and pirate I dont see many folks even running the skirts on the MT fenders. Ive been looking for ideas and they are hard to come by.

You havent been posting up, so....others had to take up YOUR slack!:flipoff2:

I promise to try and do a better job of skanking your thread back up then.

Haven't been here for a while, and was looking forward on your updates. Everything is really sweet, specially that gas tank of yours, great craftmanship !. I'll need to do the same, or at least to do a submersible pump on the OEM tank. For now will run it the way it is, if I ever finish !.

Thanks for the props man! It was a royal pita, and would avoid it at all cost if I had to do it again. I like the way it came out, I like the location, etc. But.... If I didn't have to do it, I certainly wouldn't.

I hear ya !. been in the making .... times a bunch of times myself.
and this is what I hate when looking at cool projects : I WANT THE SAME, got to stop looking.

Hope to see that rig in person one day !

On the topic of the inner skirts, medusa had used expanded
Metal for that. HELPS keep mud and debris out, but Also help keep the temps down. He did the rear portion of the fender, but left the front open as I was thinking. One guy over there said that his temp dropped 20 deg. When he pulled the skirts. That was an sbc, so I donno if I'll even have an issue with the vortec.
Seems that not too many people run the skirts at all. Hardly and pic with skirts on.

Lol!!! There is not a whole lot of sense in window shopping w cruisers. They will always stick a hand into your wallet And time budget.

It somehow worth it in the end, oddly enough.

You can make steel skirts with louvres in them, draws the heat out and keeps the mud and debris from your engine. Plus they look cool.

Kinda effin around in the garage with some left over sheet I had on those fender skirts....

Any recommendations? Up front with the ford towers...there is not gonna be much as far as material. Its gonna be pretty limited to the back of the fender.

Looks nice but can you mount something on there?
I would like to protect the belts from debris.

Im curious to if you will make your fenders tie into the sliders.

Not at this point. They would have to be able to separate, and right now im looking to get it wheeling asap. If it bugs me enough later down the road, Ill do it, but right now its not something on the list of "have to do".

This was just screwing around, not the final deal. Im thinking about running a STRAIGHT piece of sheet from where the fenders bend on the frame itself, bending it down the back support and matching the shape, and then cutting and welding fill in pieces PRN.
I DO NOT want this totally enclosed. I may very well leave the front OPEN. As much as others are saying that I wont need additional cooling, Im still concerned with it, especially on the trail.
ON the skinnned portion of the fender well up there, ill be mounting my trans cooler as well, so that too will do better with some air flow.
