Thanks Charles!
Those came out great! Interesting that you took the skirt straight across the back vs. Trying to match the angle of the upright fender support.

I appreciTe the pics man. Something to consider.

Really nice work Charles.

@Chicago, You could do something like this. If the cooling becomes an issue cut a few holes and fill them with expanded steel from behind later.

I'll bet a [strike]12 pack of PBR[/strike] bottle of Knob Creek you could completely seal off the inner fenders and have no cooling issues at all.;)

I really like full fender skirts personaly.

That's a very good, and simple point. All this crap and I forgot that I could just go back and open it up if I needed to.

Sometimes I over look the small details.

Does that mean your going to buy me a bottle of Knob Creek? :flipoff2:

Dan,

It is not my work. Work of Jewell Bohannan in Bentonville, Arkansas.

My fenders was the first set he built. Built around 2001 before "waste management" style fenders became popular.

I would recommend you make the inner skirt removable. Makes for easy access for the starter, power steering pump, spark plugs, oil pressure sensor, etc.,

I have a Griffin aluminum radiator, fan shroud, and stock TBI mechanical fan. I don't have any cooling issues with the inner fenders.

Let me know when you want to get started.

I'll sponge PBR off you in the meantime. :flipoff2:

Come on up. A bunch of could get the rest of this rig done in a weekend.
Donno what you're thinking about "sponges" though.
That sounds a little weird.

Another direction...
Still HATE IT! About ready to just add an upper piece for what I need to mount up there and move on.

Have you thought of using stock old inner fenders and adapt them to the MT ?. Don't know if would work or if someone has done it .

A few have done it that Ive seen pics of....
I sold my stock fenders, and Im not gonna pony up the dough for another set, plus wait for them and then spend weeks trying to make it work.
Its not that important to me at this stage of the game.

Not the popular opinion on this, but...I dont think itll be that much of an issue and will be more of a hassle than anything.

I do need some mounting surface on the top portion, and that is my primary motivation to do any of it so I can move on with mounting the battery and trans cooler etc.

Ill be out of town for 2 weeks and way from the rig, so maybe the break will give me some better perspective on the topic.

Right now...Im just aggravated with the whole issue.

Doood-sorry, but you do sheet metal better than anyone else I've seen on IH8MUD.

No one will see this once it's done and personally, keeping mud out of the engine compartment is a very good idea.

Keep going this direction, it will be great.

Thanks for the encouragement Andy.:)

Nice work, but don't you want them detachable for easy access?

Dude....youre killing me.
Lemme explain it. So this is MOCK UP for me. I tack everything in to see if I like it and if itll work. Once I get a better idea wether or not I wanna keep going, or scrap it, its as simple as cutting out the tacks. IF I like what Im doing and it makes it to the final stages, Ill THEN add some tabs to the BACK SIDE of fender frame where I want them, tack THOSE in, drill the holes and bolt them in. Then...do the finish welding on the tins. Then I can safely cut out the tack welds, remove the tins, clean it all up. This way Im not effing around trying to get holes to line up later and it makes for a better fit all around.
