So, after not wanting to pay the $30.00 handling fee from SOR, or broken parts and the run around for used parts at cruiserparts.net, I went and starting searching for cheap OEM parts for my '87 FJ60 from places that would be reliable. Here is what I found...

Absolute cheapest:

Toyota Parts Superstore
Toyota Parts Superstore

Got my front mudflaps ($81.50 a piece), and some filters... had to get an express on a Clutch Master Cylinder and a Slave Cylinder, so I called them up and got 2 day air freight for a reasonable price.

If they don't have it:

Genuine OEM Toyota Parts
Genuine OEM Toyota Parts - Authorized Toyota Car Parts and Accessories

Got my rear mudflaps ($82.00 a piece), they have parts there I haven't been able to find anywhere else

Another site I used to go to, (they wouldn't give me a break on shipping on a big order and don't have parts as cheap as the other two places):

Olathe Toyota
Genuine Toyota Parts - Cheap Toyota Parts Store - Factory Parts

There was also a Rusty Wallace Toyota that was selling individual tools for the OEM tool kit new in the packaging on Ebay for a really good price, but who ever answers their emails is a big bag-o-douche, so don't expect much for service.

Hope this is of use.

My local dealer was not willing to give deals with parts, living in ND kinda gives them the feeling that they are remote enough to set the rules, I used to buy the lesser expensive parts from them and have them do service work to keep it local, but after they wanted $30 for a fuel filter, broke fuses and left vacuum hoses detached after the last service they wont be getting that anymore either.

And, there is Cruiser Dan and Cruiser Beno/Onur in Albuquerque;)

Wa? Hang around here enough Supra60 and you will find out that Dan is the man. And Onur too. They are the traditional go-to boys for OEM here at MUD. They know LC parts better than most part guys could ever dream of. The only other Toyota dealer I would deal with is John Hocker in AZ (Sierra Toyota?).

But, since Dan and Onur are a local phone call, and about 20 minutes from the house, they always get to clean out my wallet.

I had great luck this week with Toyota of Dallas. They give me the same prices as Dan and can get any part overnight - at no cost to me.

I bought some parts from Dan, but in attempting to talk to him again this week proved impossible via phone. A long unsuccessful game of phone tag resulted in me giving up - and calling my local dealer. Much to my surprise and content, they offered the same prices.

Calling your local parts counter is worth a try!

Yeah, but I bet they're not experts in Garand Rifles like Dan is! :flipoff2:

I'm aware of several dealers that will offer a nice discount. The advantage to Dan and Onur is they know their stuff when it comes to LCs. Start talking old junk to some of these other dealers and their eyes will glaze over. Especially if it's something more complicated than oil filters, spark plugs, and fan belts.

I refuse to use my local toyota dealer unless its an absolute emergency. When I put in a new to me 2f, I needed a few parts, 2 of which were the 2 small o-rings that go on the oil cooler and they wanted 9 dollars per 1" o-ring. I asked if there was any way to get them cheaper and he was an a$$ and said no. I guess thats why people call them the STEALership.

Interesting find on links. I may use them in the future.

Yeah, start talking about diesel stuff... you'll see their reaction. My part guys said they had only one 60 in the showroom back them and it's another dealer that sold it. It's been a while since a Land Cruiser have been in their shop (I go only there for parts)...

I'm sorry that we were not able to connect.

My "real job" as Parts Manager can and does take up time that I would much rather spend on Land Cruiser projects. The part of my job that I most enjoy is just that. The stuff that keeps me away is necessary to the business operation and lacks any and all charm.

I have to agree with you that there are some dealers out there that are willing to offer discounts. Not all of them are greedy.

Onur is also available and more than able to assist. :)

We do have a leg up because of our inventory and product knowledge but, to be fair, any dealer can get what we get if the person on the other side of the counter knows how to navigate the old books and is not afraid of the vehicle because it's not a new Corolla.

On the other hand, I'm a better shot at ~300 yards......:grinpimp:

I just put Dan to the test, took him outside of his Cruiser Comfort Zone and into the land of first gen MR2 parts. He came thru shinning!! thanks, Dan. Parts got here yesterday. Now to crawl under the bloody thing and thread my hands up in there.....
His price, delivered, beats my local dealership and has for so long that I no longer bother with the not so remote local guys.

Hum, wonder if he can out-shoot my 6BR soon to to be F-Class Savage........
:)

Dan,

Thanks for the response. You are obviously highly respected and knowledgable about these vehicles. I'll transact with you in the future. My current parts needs are rather simple, gaskets, hoses, etc. If I need anyone who has depth, I'll call you up.

cool stuff

Thanks Supra60 for sharing but i do agree with these guys once you try out Dan and Beno i'm sure you will go to the darkside (LOL).In my case the dealership i work for also owns a Toyota dealer so i get mucho discounts on all parts i buy usually about cost of part + 10% and the guys in parts know me that they will order my parts w/out prepaymaent.:D

Dan has hooked me up in the past...appreciated!

But we need a Dan on the East Coast, no-offense. It is just tough when you want it and you want it yesterday and shipping from coast to coast is a week., Ouch it is too long. Yes I am impatient.
