Has anyone looked into taking a center console from other vehicles and putting it into the land cruiser? There are so many really nice ones that appear to be high enough, narrow enough, and yet still big enough to have great storage, cup holders built-in, and look really nice.

Anybody ever looked into the options that would fit?

Tuffy boxes & other brands to secure & increase capacity seem to be the mainstream thing people have posted threads about.

Is there a feature you're after, like the fridge/coolbox in the overseas 80's (or 200's here) - or what exactly you have in mind to change it up?

I've seen some great looking consoles from Cadillac, just curious if any fit with minor mods.

No cooler etc. just higher, wider too so it's an armrest, dual cup holders, etc.

Having the center console from a 200 series would rock!

We needed to replace the console in my girlfriend's jeep and almost just ended up bolting an ammo can between the seats (one of the larger ones). Tough as nails, lockable, and if you want to add an accessory, you can just weld that s*** on.

Don't search. No one has ever done a write up or tried such a thing.

I did a lot of searches, found lots of handmade center consoles, but not much about taking a center console from a whole different vehicle.

Just an example, would this Cadillac console fit, with some minor cutting, mods? How about a console from a 200 Series LC?

someone took one out of a 2000+ tahoe and it looked decent, but no armrest. there's also someone on here that replaced the existing console lid with the armrest/console from the back seat of a 2002 Chrysler Concord...before he disassembled it and made a custom one. I'm too lazy to post links to threads that contain pics.

Interested to see what comes of this. Id asked ages back if anyone had an option to move their parking brake, I hope to do it and put in the wider tufty console.
I've moved my hand brake to under the dash and had a custom console made

Do you have any pictures of your custom made console?

That's more in line with what I'm thinking

Go Tuffy box. $200 and done. sets higher too, so the armrest works if you are over 5'10" tall.

Which tuffy box did you choose?

I did the 2000 Tahoe console and love it. Cup holders where they should be.

Got some pictures you would share?

Sure. Here are a couple that I have my build thread. I can take some more if any one wants to see different views.
I think this console can be found in 2000-2004 tahoes, avalanches, and other trucks. The grey is almost an exact match to the land cruiser interior. The arm rest sits a little lower than the stock console but I don't even notice, holds my elbow nicely. Down side is that it is longer and leaves little room for a passenger in the rear middle.
