So, the pregnant :princess: and I are attempting to take our 15 month old daughter camping this weekend. We've reserved a tent spot at Oconee County State Park, and we'll be there Fri and Sat nights. This will be the maiden camping trip for us in the Cruiser.

Saturday, we plan to do a little fishing, some swimming, etc. Figure we'll go to the Fish Hatchery, as it should be fun for Rosey to see. I was wondering if anyone knows of any light off-road trails or decent gravel roads in this area that are either scenic in themselves or go to something cool. It should be possible for us tool around in the Cruiser with the daughter asleep in her car seat...

Sunday will find us leaving OCSP and heading north on 107 to Bull-Pen Road towards Highlands. This is a 1.5 lane gravel road that one hiking website identified as "a hiking trail for cars" I kinda doubt that, but should be a good ride as it snakes along the Chattooga for a while and passes by one of the 3 largest poplar trees in NA.

Pics and trip report will follow.

Thanks in advance for any and all comments on things to try (trails/gravel roads) in this area. Looking forward to using the Cruiser as I have intended.:steer:

Yeah about a mile up 107 on the left you will see a street named Burrells Ford. Take it. Will travel back to a bridge over the Chattooga River. All Gravel. It will eventually dump you back on hwy 28. Take a left back to 107.

If your feeling adventurous try this.

Go down on 107 till you hit 28 take a right. Continue on 28 till you hit War Woman Rd. Take a left. Look for two roads off to the left. One is Earl's Ford/ Railroad 1 Rd. The other is Sandy Ford. Either one will take you to the GA side of the Chattooga where you could drive right up to the water. Earl's Ford will cross over War Woman river. Last time I went it was about two ft deep and a whole lot of fun as it's a long water crossing. http://www.828rugs.com/uc/MOV00134.AVI

Look it up on Google and have a map and possibly GPS ready. Stay on the main roads. Remember your in the back country of GA. Anything is possible. SO be safe.

marshall hit the highlights that we know of in the area...... used to be some good trails in the Burells Ford area but unfortunately DNR shut them down a few years back  Still a cool area enjoy your trip

and yes that is me screaming at the end of the video clip...... I was so focused on filming Marshalls crossing I failed the notice the huge surge of water the 80 had created and needless to say I had very cold and soggy feet for the remainder of the day

Also some trails and river crossings off Cassidy Bridge Rd. Turn like you are going Rafting.
Also nice winding gravel road going down to the bottom of Cherry Hill.

Awesome info guys, will check some of those out. As much as I would like to do the WarWoman Crossing, but the :princess: doesn't think that this would be the best thing to do with a sleeping kid in the back :meh:

Hoping to use the 4WD lever though! :grinpimp:
