Can't program replacement remote for 97 LX450

I received the brand new Lexus OEM Remote today (Toyota Part# 08191-60820). Tried all of the usual programming procedures, and it's still not working.

So I think this marks the end of my frustrating journey. I will happily unlock the doors the old fashioned way.

Does anyone want to buy the OEM Remote from me, before I put it on eBay? $50 including shipping.

Is the FCC -032 or -013?

Well crap, I need -013.

maybe I missed it, but how many fobs can be programmed to the LX security system ?

on the aftermarket Viper system in our '93 80, only 4 different fobs can be programmed to it, ever - I only got one functioning remote from the PO (I assume if some PO ever had a second one, it's been long lost by now) - I was able to program two more fobs to it, but no such luck on the additional remote I purchased from the same vendor and tried to program in the same session - so I concluded the max of 4 remotes has been reached - therefore, if one of the remote casings breaks in the future, the only option left is to transplant the innards to a new housing; if the electronics give up, I will be down to two functioning remotes, and potentially none as the years go buy . . .

does anybody know if the OEM units also have a limit on maximum number of fobs ? (sorry, I can't look in the owner's guide, it's 1500 miles away)

Hmmm..... maybe that is my problem as well? What's the difference between the -032 and -013? How would I know which one I need?

both the box under the seat and the OEM remote for the truck have the FCC code on them - for my '97 LX, it's the -032 number

The receiver under my seat ends in -129. (96 LX450)

Grrrr.....
I actually looked @ the alarm ECU today & the last 3 of the FCC are -129:doh:. Now I'm lost because the keyless remote people told me I need -013 but isn't the remote fob FCC & the alarm ECU FCC number supposed to be the same???? I can't find any remotes that end w/ -129.

I ordered a -022 (Black, not Gray - that matters according to most threads) and it should arrive by this Wednesday. Stay tuned...

Well you have the same alarm ECM as me so whatever works for you should work for me! This FCC s*** is driving me crazy!!:bang:

PLEASE keep me updated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The FCC ID on the key fob will be different from the control box. The starting point to make sure they are compatible would be to look up the FCC ID on the FCC's website making sure the frequencies match exactly. That's no guaranty but just the starting point.

Did you get your -022 remote yet?

Unfortunately, I received the new remote yesterday and this one doesn't work either. It's the Remocon RMC-105, black square shape with 4 buttons total (2 black buttons, one blue and one red).

I think I'm pulling the plug and moving on with my life.

:bang:

and I am only just getting in on the fun  (haven't ordered anything yet, will post up progress as I do)

Well that sucks. That's the one I tried but w/a different FCC code. They sell key fobs at Vatozone now so maybe you can go there and try them until you find the right one???

I'm jumping in here, since there seems to be lots of smart people reading this.

My issue is with a 94 truck, and I purchased an eBay remote.

It programs just fine - press the green button, get the red LED, press the remote button and the truck honks and confirms.

However, it will not lock/unlock. But if I hold it down for two seconds, it will set off the panic alarm, and I can stop it with the remote as well.

Why are the doors not working? any thoughts?

I should add that otherwise my locks all seem to work fine. Interior switch works perfectly, and the outside doors work as expected -- passenger door unlocks all, drivers door is once for that door, twice for all doors. So that all seems to work as expected, and the remote seems to program, just no lock/unlock from the remote.

I think my remote is sensitive to barometric pressure. No rhyme or reason. Good days and bad...
