Gray with caps. Beautiful 4Runner!

... looks incredible. I LOVE the gray wheels on this - picks up the grays in the stripes, looks completely factory.

IF it were my truck and I was going to run the steel wheels with hubcaps, I'd have to lose those chrome fender moldings. They distract from the wheels. In my mind.....chrome accent stuff always implies some kind of luxury package...and steelies with hubcaps are poverty pack equipment. Kind of needs one or the other. They really stand out on the black too.

We did an 80 with dark grey Dean wheels(aluminum "steel" wheels) and caps. The grey looked really cool. Like dark satin grey. Would look proper on this truck.

Good point. Removed them on the 98...looking at the 89, I think I’ll take them off.

I intended for a much darker gray on the First Gen...just ended up with the wrong paint.

On the 96, those HUGE chrome bumpers front and rear kind of work with the trim...have you considered changing them out? Dig those TRD wheels on that truck.

This is the color we used on a customer's Dean wheels....it's a Prismatic Powder....Forged Charcoal. It's probably the nicest grey/charcoal I have ever used. It has a really soft finish...kind of like pencil lead. It's like nothing else I've seen

For sure...but not doable on the current budget.

Those Dean wheels look fantastic.

Dig those TRD wheels on that truck.

Those are FN f(x) Pros...replicas of the TRD but 1” wider and a more aggressive offset. Center caps are OE Toyota. Very happy with them.

G-Cat, that is one beautiful 3rd Gen! Makes me miss mine, although I didn’t have it all that long, it was a great little rig! I should have taken the chrome off the wheel arches too.

Chrome fender garnishes removed. Free modification and so much better. Thanks for the catch @c2dfj45 !

It just keeps getting better.

Yup, that’s why I take them off all of mine. The green 4Runner wasn’t around long enough for me to get it totally dialed.

Grey with no caps...
Compromise - gray with caps when she's all cleaned up and taking the family for a ride... no caps when you're heading to the trail.

Ya I dunno lol.... black with caps or grey with no caps. But I'm not sold on caps... somethin about them doesnt look as good on these trucks as say a landcruiser.

Probably the fault of the tires...

I won't disagree with you there. An FJ45 or FJ55 with steel wheels and hubcaps is just awesome. It's hard to make any Pickup look as good as the old Land Cruisers. But, I do think the Pickups look really good with steel wheels and caps... even if it's not "as good" as the 40s, 45s, 55s and 60s.

Admittedly, I'm biased:

Had these (exact set of) wheels/tires on my 86

I’m sure we can all agree they look better than the wheels that were on the 4Runner when I found it!
