Waiting on our shocks to come back from King and then we can button up the rear 100%. Front needs a bit of welding, brakes and full assembly with new parts. Trying to get it mostly buttoned up for CruiserFest and then test and finalize prep for the 1000.

We have a low mile 6spd trans & tcase we are considering swapping in. We don't know how many miles are on this... but at least 20,000 miles of getting flogged in races

Is this a stock US 200-series case or something else? Any mods?

Either way, that is a very impressive number.

The original is stock/stock and the replacement too. External rear mount trans cooler with dual switchable fans. We've seen some high temps running in high range and pushing it hard in long silt beds. The fans bring the temps down faaaast.

The existing trans has been working fine but we've all felt it's not as snappy as it once was and it could be a weak link to a race finish.

I assume you guys race with the CDL locked?

No inherently, we have a hard switch to engage/disengage along with the ability to lock/unlock the rear ARB. Front diff is stock/open.

The cooler weather is upon us and that means only one thing... Baja 1000 prep. Does Monica the mighty URJ201 have another Baja 1000 finish in her? I sure think so. We'll be racing the Canguro Racing 8155 and the JAOS 8188 LX600 next month in Mexico 😎

I am so late to this thread! Awesome truck and story!

I watched a bunch of the Joe Bacal Untold Story on this truck's first few seasons. Alot of changes over the years! When did the coil overs get added?

Nevermind! Just watched season 2 episode 3 and he mentions for a split second that the one featured in the videos is the older one. Who owns the original one?

I'm not 100%, last I heard it's still in the Middle East.

Monica is a GOAT. Completing BAJA 1000 enough times to make it seem like it can be taken for granted.

I'm curious if there's other vehicles that have completed the BAJA more times?

That's a great question. The Rod Hall H1 had a bunch of finishes but I doubt as many as we have in Class 8100. I suspect there are some 10 and 11 cars with a few decades of racing.

I think you'd be surprised how many vehicles have decades of race history there, particularly in the limited classes like Stock Full. I'd be some of the full size pick up chassis and class 8 unlimited chassis' have dozens of finishes, and then there is the Rod Hall H1 Hummer.

Kurt beat me to the punch. I also wager some 1/2-1600 chassis' and Class 11 are up there, though the 11 cars just time out, even though they could finish, and are proven to take a considerable beating.

Undoubtedly, the finish percentage of monica is going to be very hard to match!

We had a fantastic Saturday prep jam and buttoned up a bunch more loose ends. It’s back on its wheels, fluids topped and suspension all torqued. We have a bunch left to do including front bumper/tube and skid plates. They seem to get destroyed each race so it’s time for another.
