Can the coolbox be installed on the Heritage?

Man, I was thinking the opposite... what parts are required to convert to non-cool box. Would much rather have the space than a fridge that only works when you’re driving. Actually my first priority would be to get 100 style armrests back, then center console space. :-)

Why? Seriously. Why?

A Heritage is a base LC without the cool box, running boards, or third row seats, plus wheels, a couple badges, and a really ugly roof rack. That’s it. Oh, I forgot, you need to spend an extra $2k on the Heritage.

You can remove the third row and running boards from a base LC in a half hour. Eric will be glad to sell you the Heritage wheels and the badges. You can get a better aftermarket roof rack. Do all that and you will still be thousands less than adding a coolbox to a Heritage.
Man oh man am I glad to see this post. I came to EXACTLY the same conclusion after seeing just what the new heritage model was. So in 11/2019 found a 2018 LC, never titled, with 6300 miles on it from a dealer here in MD. I got a good price (I think), full warranty and low 3.99% financing from Mr T. I'm very very very happy. I think the dealer is too because this beautiful LC wasn't selling for some reason.

I love my coolbox. I ride bikes a lot and always pack an orange juice for before ride and a couple beers for after ride. I put one of those freezable bags in the coolbox to help the beers stay cool while I'm riding. It saves me from packing a small cooler.
It’s definitely a love/hate item. I’m rather indifferent to mine.

For me, it makes since to pack all that stuff in a small soft cooler rather than carrying a bunch of loose stuff and ice pack out to the cool box. That way you can just chill on the tailgate without going back and forth. Oh, and you won’t find that half drank bottle of orange juice still in the cool box 3 weeks later.

BTW, if you want, then i can rip out my cool box and trade you for your HE rims. :D

Heritage is kind of ridiculous imo, cant believe anyone is buying them. If you are going to do any kind of special edition on a vehicle this expensive it needs to be something fairly exclusive that can't be replicated for less money, or in this case done better for less money. Supercharged engine or something along those lines would have made more sense. Wheels are too easy to get, rack is gross and as said by others 3rd row removal is too easy as it is. I dont think resale will be any more than the last year of LC available, whatever year that ends up being.

I love the armrest option.

^ this 100%

I like having it, but it's not that great, certainly wouldn't pay what it's gonna cost to have it installed from parts. I tested it with a digital thermometer on a road trip, and it barely gets to 40dF, actually closer to 45dF on a hot day. Maybe others work better than mine. I'd sooner spend much less on a small fridge that sits in the back, works much better, is portable, and can run even with the engine off (assuming you have the wiring and a dual battery, or a Yeti-type battery unit).

Prior to my purchase of the HE, I priced out basic parts to install the cooler and got into the thousands before any labor. I didn't even dig into the primary electrical harness and cooling lines as I believe they are still common to all LC's.

A true third row removal would require hacking up the interior body, which most people understandably aren’t going to want to do.

Plus not all people want the premium leather. Some users here report it not being as durable as the 08-15/HE leather.

Besides.. while DNH1 got exactly the truck he wanted, I’m betting it cost a lot more than a HE between the bodywork, wheel coating, light black out, badges, etc. Which he’s obviously more than ok with. But if we are going to talk about the “value” of a decontented HE.. they actually are special and to build one as they are delivered from a base model would cost more. Whether someone wants those features or deletes is up to them and their wallet.

If I were in the market for a new 200 there is no question, I’d be buying a heritage, without the cool box or “premium” leather.

I know the coolbox is an option on the LX; does anyone know if the install can be done on the Heritage?

No, It cant be done. Even if it could be done, you're not allowed to. Sorry.

;)

Personally, I love the Heritage. BUT, when I replace the '13, I won't be getting one. Mostly because we want a Midnight Blue on Terra. And I want the real leather. Ive had 200s both with and without the coolbox, and I could go either way. Probably rather NOT have the Coolbox for the extra storage, but not a deal-breaker. I also dont really like the wheels on the Heritage, but I guess I do like them better than the regular 16+ wheels. We use the third row sometimes so as much as I like the idea of a clean cargo area, its probably not for us. And I think those retro badges on the D-pillar are kinda douchey. The roof rack is definitely douchey. Now that I think about it, why do I even like the Heritage? I guess the contrast stitching and blacked out headlights? Deep thoughts. Of course, if I wanted a black or white LC, Id probably want a Heritage. But my next LC will be an 18+ Blue/Terra with no back seat monitors and maybe Ill add the wheels and headlights later.

Toyota is a smart company and they are giving a product that people want and you are correct it probably will cost more to try to replicate the HE ... The reason why it cost more is because when someone buys a regular land cruiser they are paying for the rear seats, the running boards the regular headlights, regular grill, regular rims and tires to only take off all the stuff they paid for and replace it with different stuff... Toyota isn’t spending much more on the grill the headlights, they are saving money on no third row seats and no cool box and no dvd screens... Because they are just swapping out parts for other parts and deleting accessories. I can guarantee you their profits on HE’s are through the roof... less for more Toyota is a brilliant company that’s why they are the most profitable. VW might outsell Toyota but Toyota Kills them in profit...This is just my opinion here the only real thing that is better on the heritage than a normal land cruiser is the forged rims... other than that it’s more for less... now if they sold the HE for 3,000 less than a normal Land Cruiser sign me up 😃... people on this forum wanted a stripped down land cruiser for the #1 reason, the #1 reason was to pay less... not more but Toyota figures out a way to spin it so we would get less and pay more because of exclusivity lol Genius just Genius!! In my opinion the Land Cruiser is exclusive enough. I will buy a land cruiser for a great price well below invoice take out the rear seats and have two retarded holes in the fender covers, put on some slee sliders, some 17’s with Ko2’s the factory front spring spacer and I will be cheaper than an HE and it will wheel way better than an HE... Why because it’s cheaper with Better tires well if you replace the tires on the HE and put sliders on well it will cost that much more.

Why does everyone hate the roof rack so ****ing much? I literally bought one used, and threw it on my '18. Allow me to attach my maxtrax, shovel, hi-lift, and I can put s*** up there when needed. I dunno.

Around here Heritage Editions are not going for any less than MSRP. You are looking at almost a $15k price different between that and the “Base” model. You can definitely recreate the important parts of the HE for less than that.

Add $5k to add the cool box to the HE and it’s now stupid money for a mediocre fridge.

It’s ugly. It’s noisy. It isn’t as good as any of the many aftermarket options.

I will say I love my coolbox more than I thought I would. I usually carry a cooler and use the coolbox to keep small stuff cool while driving
