Don't call what your wearing an outfit. Don't ever say your car is broke.
Don't worry about losing your accent, a Southern Man tells better jokes.

I took a few days and read through this entire thread. I just got an 86 FJ60 (my first "import"), and being a true-blue GM junkie, i've been hell bent on stuffing a 5.3/4L60 in it. The info in this thread is infinitely valuable, and most importantly it made me realize that this is no small undertaking. I was planning on gathering parts this summer and attacking the swap this coming winter, but after reading this I think i may need more time than that to get everything together. Awesome truck man, your attention to detail is impressive, and its nice to see that you actually use that thing for what you built it for!

I can attest to the performance. having a supercharged 80 series i went cross country with this cool dude to get remote and do some hard core wheeling. I could never leave him or out wheel him. His truck is the real deal.

Just hand it over to Mosley Motors...and BAM, just like that you’ll save scraped knuckles, cuss’n to the lord and be enjoying a peppy ride in no time.

Thanks! It can be overwhelming at times, but the instant you turn the key it is all worth it.

“just like that”

I’ll be starting another swap soon and will be applying everything I learned and would do differently if I were starting again from scratch.

This will have the same drivetrain combo I used and, according to internet calculations, this truck rolled off the assembly line a week or two after mine. They may have ridden over on the same boat!

I’ll start a thread and link it here once it’s underway. Stay tuned!

Got a few assorted projects in the works.

I took a very early retirement from my Highly Trained Professional Rocket Scientist position in December so I could go overlanding with my Internet friends.

Now my real job is doing swaps and other cool things like that.

I'd still like to get drunk around a camp fire one night and hear the story and try to understand the thought process(es) that led to this decision.

Until then, I'll remain quietly jealous.

Yeah, no idea what I was thinking!

Cam, when I retire, I'll come and work at Mosley Motors. You just pay me my usual hourly wage, and I'll cover the benefits. I want to learn how to keep the wife hard at work, while I travel to cool spots, and work on Cruisers.

We should get highAF (altitude dummy) around a campfire to talk about this. How’s Dusy sound? Maybe August?

Only August. After that, it's Donner Party. And cannibalism.
