How is the AC doing in Memphis?

*If* I park in the parking garage (not cooled, just provides shade), the AC kicks ass right off the bat, no matter the outside temp. If I park in the sun, it takes a bit to bring it back down. But it works fine once it does. I need to put in that crotch vent :grinpimp:

Window tint would go a long way. This thing is a greenhouse.

I do feel like I need more radiator though, and a little more transmission cooler. It runs 205-210 in town when it's 95 out, a little more on the interstate. So I don't think it's an airflow issue.

I wonder if swapping the filler neck was a bad idea? Now the inlet & outlet are on the same side.

It'll run 210-215 on the interstate and then when I get off, it'll run 220-225 while the heat works its way out.

I guess I'm thinking that there's no reserve left, that it's maxed out. After seeing how quick it builds up heat off-road or on a steep mountain pass, I feel like I'm pretty much stuck in town in the summer.

I could try running a 75/25 mix of water/coolant vs. 50/50 and see if that helps.

I've never heard of anyone getting too hot with the stock radiator. Even Georgle recommended it.

I'm still wondering about if swapping the neck was a no-no, or if I've got air (not sure how to tell), or something simple like that.

you might get a pusher fan in front of the condenser (aux fan setup).. don't think there's much else to do. I've debated hacking up under the hood some to install a radiator equivalent to what a 3/4 GM pickup uses... I think thats about the only real solution...but it would require some mods. 60 does not have enough "grill space" and therefore you don't have enough radiator core area....to dissipate heat, or really air flow/volume. I use the 4 core OEM style radiator and let it rip.

I have wondered what if any...positive cooling impact hood lovures or vents would have. I don't think much of the coolant additives and I just stick with 50/50 green coolant to distilled water.

How is the AC doing in Memphis?

I checked today. It's 100 degrees out right now. I had 48 degree vent temps in the center vent on high speed/recirculate in my carport with it revved to 1000 rpms. I still had a lot of sun shining in the windows to heat up the interior.

I need to have @beno seal up my ductwork. I have some leakage by my feet. I'd rather have it all come out the vents.

How am I going to do that?

I tried to "burp" my cooling system today, just in case there's any air trapped in the system.

Georg tipped me off to the Lisle spill free funnels. I finally ordered one and used it today.

I'm think I had a burp or two after it was fully warm and I revved the engine up. I never personally saw any bubbles coming up. It looked like a burp or two from the drivers seat though.

Burp or not, this is really handy for filling the system. It is completely full and I spilled zero drops.

It's in the mid-upper 90's all week, so I'll be able to tell if it helped.

That would work. I just don't want to tear out the dash to get to all that stuff.
yeah..I've got to get my dash back together....I dread potential breakage of some of that plastic crap. That one heater duct down by the shifter is a prime candidate for getting trashed.

saw this....ties back to my discussion/question about a gear indicator display for auto transmission. Previously I saw something like this in some 4wb build thread I came across (non-mud). Anyway just wanted to post up if you had interest. Not sure of the requirements to get it fully functional...but

I've not looked but I wonder if one of those electronic displays like ultra-guage might also display the same info..depending on year of engine/trans.

Can't get any easier to set up than that. They only show it for the six speeds though. I'm not sure if my gear position is communicated out of the computer.

I know it sounds too easy to really do any good, but try adding a bottle of Redline Water Wetter. Their products are as good as they get, and the race shop associated with the dealership where I once worked saw measureable results by using it. Bottom line: there's no down side to trying it. I think OReilly carries it.
