What a cool little business.....

:hmm:

Mobile Land Cruiser parts consulting and delivery....

You might need to increase your mark-up a teeny bit!

I'm pretty sure he'd go outside his territory for a trip to Colorado. You know, to stock up on some, err... "supplies", if you know what I mean:grinpimp:

Makin' room for the AC lines. I was lazy and didn't want to drill holes/find grommets when I was running the cooler.

The dude had all my ends prepped and ready for hose when he came over. Unlike the factory hoses, he switched them all to a rebuildable type, where the crimp sleeve is not part of the fitting.

Autozone "loaned" me a vac pump and gauges, and I'll try to get it cooling tomorrow.

Of course I wasn't thinking about the dryer when I moved the upper radiator neck, but with a little tweaking of the dryer bracket, I got it all to fit. my intake needs a little tweaking too, but I don't think it will be a big deal.

My total for the hoses was $240. Not bad IMO for the amount of time, custom work, and junkyard scavenging he did. I was budgeting $200 and only expecting to get two hoses.

That is so awesome. Great job keeping it clean.

I bet this makes you want to fix that big ass dent

Thanks! Yeah, the body does not match now! My wife even asked me what it would take to make the outside look nice, so that's a good sign:D

I also need to tighten up a bunch of interior squeaks and rattles. Get this thing ready for another 30 years!

Maybe budget was the wrong word. More like a a final guess at the last few items as I enter the home stretch.

I'm not sure if I can bring myself to add it all up. Maybe $6500-$8000 in costs. But I parted my old stuff out for quite a bit, so overall it wasn't bad. Good thing I work for free!

Budget? You had a budget for this? I want to see that.

I pretty much traded everything I had before for the engine/transmission combo, wiring harness, pedal, adapter, and motor mounts.

All of the other bits and pieces were out of pocket and bought along the way.

Fuel system, oil pan, manifolds, exhaust, a/c hoses, driveshafts, shifter, coolant hoses, coolers and radiator mods all came to right around $2300.

The big stuff above was roughly $5000. I could have knocked a grand off by going with a higher mileage motor combo.

In addition to the swap parts, I went with a new a/c condenser & dryer, custom rattle paint under the hood, and lots of new odds & ends from beno.

So, a little over $7K plus "while you're in there stuff".

Now it needs a new hood liner to really finish it off under the hood. Cruise control and a tach will finish the interior portion.

Then I will feel like it's done.

More behind-the-scenes work needed to do the actual work...

Once I put my AC drier on, my intake wouldn't fit (at least not cleanly). The tube points the accordion in the wrong direction, and doesnt allow room for the drier.

Separating the accordion rubber from the tube...

That thing was seriously glued and/or melted in place...

image.webp

Cut the tube down...

image.webp

I tried to heat and re-shape (with a little success) the lip. I also went around the edge with the torch both on the tube and the rubber to try and get it to melt together.

image.webp

BOOM! Just enough room now.

image.webp

Now I can go try and charge the AC.

Hmmm... I can't get the compressor to kick on.

I've got one can of 134 in the system, old coil (-) to tach output from ECU, old AC clutch wire to green wire of new AC compressor, black wire of new AC compressor to ground. No blown fuses.

Any ideas?
