Definitely be sure and let us know. I'll update the post in my old filter replacement thread as well to feed the unfortunate "doorless" souls to this thread for redemption. :grinpimp:

I just got a copy of the schematics for the 2000 LC and it shows a small door that would not even be close enough in size to hold a filter that would cover the evaporator. The door on my setup is much larger than pictured below. The part number listed in this thread is for the door only and no filter holder. Might be giving the diy thing a shot...
Keep in mind, there are two filters, inserted one by one and they are stacked. The door should be roughly half the size of the evaporator.

Confirmed to work. Parts as shown and suggested by hoser. Interesting: check the pic of the covers side by side. They have the same Denso parts number stamped on the inside! Go figure.

Filters are ordered now too. I forget the p/n, it's in the LX470 filter DIY thread.

YMMV. Ordering by VIN or by model year was useless. These covers are all over the place, as is proven by the diagrams, some with slot, some without.

Very messed up: filters could be ordered by p/n, but when dealers searched the system of schematics for ALL Toyota's and Lexi, the part was unknown.

EDIT: you could just Dremel the existing cover without removing it from the evap. That could save you a lot of hassle. Buy the small cover, click it on and trace around it. Cut 2mm inside your trace. Good to go. I used compressed air while the evap was open to clean it out though. Lots of debris inside.

CRAP! Evap is leaking into the passenger footwell. Probably the gasket is not "sitting" right. It was really tough to get the cover back in place, so I probably moved the gasket a bit. If you look at the two covers, the gasket sits in that ridge at the top of the covers in those pics. The gasket did NOT come with my new cover, so I reused the old one.

Thanks feddomw.
Sorry you have to open up to put the gasket in place.

Great thread. Great info.

Q:
What does "8-fach gereift" mean? (Reifen is tires, right? Gereifen must be to put tires on ?? Or is it "summer and winter tires" (8-fach bereift)???)

Glad to know that my suggestion is possible. In fact feddomw, you should dremel your cover and then sell it to a Mudder. Help recover the costs and such. It looks like the trace outline is already made from the dust on the back of your cover anyway. Just put tool to plastic.

Literally means "tired 8-fold". In other words, 8 tires present, in other words, summer and winter. It always indicates that there is a winter and summer wheel set, not just winter tires. This is probably very common in your neck of the woods, not so much here. I just stole the German term as it is so precise. As German things tend to be. ;-)

I am S.O.L, gasket seems to be in order. If all else fails, I could always apply a bead of silicone or something I guess. It's open again now, I'll blow out the drain with compressed air from underneath the car tomorrow, see what comes out.

EDIT: Lexi, I'll send my old cover to anyone if they cover postage. They can Dremel it themselves. I'm done with this project. It's not finished, I'm just "done" with it. And I broke the top left clip when I removed it, worth mentioning.

About 10 days ago, I posted that I had ordered the parts to attempt the filter installation on my ’04. I waited for several days with a confirmation number and charged credit card, then went a few rounds with the parts dept. Unfortunately my already low opinion of dealers was confirmed again today when they figured out they “lost” my order. I am awaiting a call back on whether I can ever expect the parts. I see some Dremel work and creative use of bungee straps in my future.

OK, filters in. 100% definitely works. Cooler Cover no.1, little cover, 2 filters, good to go. Totally worth it, and a good excuse to clean out the evap.

Highly recommended. Maybe post DIY, and add a link in the LX470 cabin air filter DIY thread?

So do the filters stack one on top of the other meaning top to bottom? It there a tab to pull to filter out that sets below the door or do you have to pull the whole front of the housing off to remove the lower filter?

The bottom filter has a tab at its top edge that sits just on the edge of the slot. Top one sits on top of that. There's a pretty clear pic on the LX470 DIY for the filters.

Both filters slide in through the slot. Half banana job.

Almost. It still leaks a few drops on very hot and humid days. I stripped the bottom left screw, i.e. it turns freely. I overtightened it and the screw grips plastic sot strips easily. I'll get a bigger screw in there next time I open everything up for the filter replacement.

Very happy with this overall.

Do the LC and LX both need two filters?

Yes. Two filters. They sit on top of each other in the vertical sense. One will NOT work as the output side from the blower will not be fully covered.

May I ask where you ordered these parts from. I just tried to order them from Conicelli Toyota and TRDparts4U and both sites said that the

88891-60050 was superceded by 60060

I ordered it anyway but got an email this morning saying that 8889160060 was not a valid part number.

Thanks

Sure, I ordered from Toyota Dijksman in Noordwijk, perhaps you've heard of them? ;)

I had some trouble with parts numbers "not existing" and what not. All I can say is that I got it to work with the parts and part numbers as shown. YMMV.

Sorry I can't help.

Looks like I need to book a vacation to Norway.

I hear it's a nice place. Never been there myself.... :p

The Netherlands is where I am.

The Netherlands is where I am.
And I thought the Netherlands was a nice place....
having been to Amsterdam once.

Neoworm: Would you like me to run those numbers past my dealer here? since you are coming here I mean:)
