(Cross-posted with the Pig Shooting thread in the Hunting & Fishing sub-forum)

First night's result of the pig trap, one sow and two piglets. Had hoped for more; will continue to bait and set the trap.

We don't have that kind of feral problem here so I am in the realm of not knowing.........is that like 100lbs of bacon and pork chops there or are feral pigs not for eating?

They're certainly edible; some think the taste is a bit more gamey but I don't mind it. Like all pork, you want to cook it thoroughly. Mrs. 1911 won't cook or eat the feral hogs, because they haven't been wormed, but thorough cooking would kill any kind of parasites. Since she doesn't want to cook it, I just haul them out of the trap and leave them for the coyotes and vultures. The carcasses are completely gone except for a few of the larger bones in a couple of days or less.

Even the coyotes and vultures like bacon.....smart!

When the depression hits, there won't be a hog problem or in our case whitetail deer problem anymore.

Both of them work hard to stay ahead of inflation here! :)

Funny and kind of sad at the same time.

Maybe some real progress, finally. Windows were finished a couple of weeks ago, but some of the builder's crew had Covid, so delivery was put off to 2/08/2022. Builder will be up to frame in the bottoms of the openings starting Friday 2/04/2022. Front door has been ordered and will be ready for pickup on or before the 15th.

x2 ^^^

Post an updated picture from the outside. I love your house build and can’t believe it’s been almost 6 years since you first broke ground on the shop.

OK, here's one from last year; nothing much has changed since then:

I will take some more as the windows go in. The builder is coming today to start framing up for underneath the windows.

It has been a long time; frustrating to be sure, but I'm just not willing to go into debt again to finish it quickly. Some will think me foolish with the current low cost of borrowed money, but I sleep much better at night without debt.

Debt free…… good for you!
I won’t have that until (God willing) I enter the Pearly Gates!
😇

I don’t know anyone that would consider your plan foolish. It is the best way to go hands down.
We will all be right here following along with you until it’s done!💪

Windows were delivered on schedule late today; going in tomorrow after Tyvek wrap of wood support strcutures.

Transforming from a cave to a house in one day!

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

You should time them. It only took me three hours to cut open stucco, drop out an old window, frame for the new one and reinstall. Obviously it should take them less.😉

Too true! The same thing occurred to me - with the front door installed and the construction opening in the garages framed in, it suddenly feels like a house.
