Purchased the vehicle back in March of this year (2016). She was running but not drivable. The prior owner stated that he thought it was simply the alternator that needed to be replaced- boy was he wrong.

First the basics:

1985 Toyota Land Cruiser
Purchased with 103,000 Original Miles - Bone Stock
2F Motor

Progress since purchasing:
Chevy one wire alternator conversion
KKS aluminum radiator
Smog pump delete
Weber Carb
DENSO Condensor
DENSO Reciever Dryer
DENSO AC Pump
ARB Old Man EMU 3" Lift (soup to nuts full kit)
New tie rod ends
Knuckle rebuild
New fuel lines
x5 General Grabber AT2 tires
4Runner windshield wiper conversion (thanks @beno )
New intake gasket
New fuel filter
New OEM fuel pump
New front brake rotors, pads, and calipers
Sand blast and powder coat fan shroud

I'm probably leaving off a few things, but I'll come back and edit later. Pictures included!

If you haven't yet removed that gas filter on the intake (black thing with three nipples) remove it carefully and post it in the classifieds. People will need those. The remaining hole is a 1/8"-28 BSP. I used Equus Part # 9841 to convert that to a 1/8"-27 NPT female.

Great work!

Clean 60, more details on KKS radiator? Their website only shows a part for 40's. Source and price?

Do yourself a favor and dump the Weber. Too many on here have tried but ultimately switched to AISIN or Trollhole carbs. Other than that truck looks awesome!! She got a name yet?

I think I'm going to call her "Bama". As that's where I sourced the vehicle from (also answering another question).

Pretty sweet story actually. One of my best friend's dad knew the original owner of the vehicle, and the second and third owners. Pretty small world. Before my purchase, it had never left (ownership) of small town Alabama.

What do you want to know?

It fit perfectly without any modification. And it's a very well built all aluminum radiator. Would definitely buy this again.

That's what I wanted to know, thanks!

Cleaned the valve cover and installed a new gasket this weekend.

Also took off the skid plate and dropped it off to be sandblasted and powder coated. Coming together!

Had to change the master brake cylinder - ordered from @jtoutfitters.

Also updated the headlights with new @dapperlighting - v2 Classic. Now just waiting on HID kit to come in from Retrofit Source!

Nice work. Can you give some info on the one wire alternator conversion?

What was the lighting upgrade cost?

The Dapper lights were like $274 -- I just looked again and I actually bought the v1 not the v2.

Retrofit Source has a range of HID kits. I went for the higher end one that they had at it was $150. The bulb size to fit the Dapper housing is an H1. I also bought the mounting brackets for the ballasts from Retrofit (like $15?).

All in all, extremely pleased with the quality from both manufacturers. Drove it last night for the first time around town. Still need to adjust the lights just a little bit, but its such a huge improvement over factory light output. Worth every penny to me.

Good modern lighting options aren't cheap. Nice investment.
