Wow. Learn something new every day. I wonder if some emergency service special ordered some freeborn red 40s? Would be interesting to know the history of that one. Showing a Feb 84 build date so not far from the end of the series.

I got it off BaT, and they got it from these guys.

I connected with them and they bought it from a family in Abha, which is apparently very wet judging from all the buried rust I uncovered. It had this nameplate on it, which Arabian Classics said was the name of the family. I haven’t been able to dig up anything else though.

I'm familiar with Arabian Classics. Abha is in Southern KSA near the Yemeni border and is about as high and dry as you can get. It's over 7000' elevation and normally very dry. They do get some snow there though. Now it isn't that far west to the Red Sea so maybe it saw a little "beach" time. Who knows. My Troopy came from near Abha and it's about as rust free as you could get.

Obviously Reinhardt isn't a Saudi sir name so maybe they bought it from an expat. There is an Air Force base nearby in Khamis Mushait. In fact, my father in law was a construction manager there for the US Corps of Engineers when that base was built (wife spent a couple of summers there when we were first dating).
