RearCan’t even believe in the almighty RCV’s ???? Is that a front or rear shaft?
Staying the courseBugger. One thing is for sure, those shafts dont live an easy life under your rig.
Curious if you’ll stay the course with 30 spline shafts, or look for avenues to step up to 35 spline?
I have a full set of spares, but with a piece of the axle still stuck in the diff I decided to throw in the towel and fix it right in the comfort of my shop.No spare?
Was that a factory or upgraded axle?
I’m really not sure where it happened, there’s a video of me in the V notch where I got stuck you can see that the rear driver was turning and then it wasn’t.You have a video of you snapping your axle?
The RCV RR axles are junk IMO.
I got rid of mine after one off road experience back in 2013.
I agree with Rob @matzell you are wheeling outside of the bounds of Toyota engineering and design for the RR FF shafts.
Time to upgrade to something more appropriate to your wheeling/driving skills.

looks like the front side of Daniel at uwharrie. That ledge is about 3ft deeper now
(Stock 80 rear shafts in my rig, btw). I have never hurt them, ever. Still on the same pair since 2016. that is eight years with V8 power, manual trans, etc
@Broksi did you ever break a stock shaft before "upgrading"?

+1 on that . For rears hard to beat oem . even more so after cyro treating . I broke a few sets of rear rcvs. I twisted a few stock rears but never a snap . Ran the cyro treated stock rears for a few years never had a problem . Richard you must have bound the s*** out of that Ive never seen a 300m snap like that Mine always sheered off super clean almost looked cut. In the pic.... Broke 1 rear axle, both frnts, frnt and rear locker, frnt ring and pinion . It wasn't a cheap day. PS who ever said " when in doubt throttle out"" is a fricken lair hahahahYup!
I went back to stock shafts and continued beating the shĩt out of my rig.
With all due respect Sir the RCV Ultimate 300M 80 Series rear axles did not hit the market tell around 2019The RCV RR axles are junk IMO.

That was such a pretty car . A shame you couldn't get it dialed to your liking . Your a Big guy finding a used buggy that fits is hard. I got tired of climbing in and out of mine . I did red dot style side tubes which made it better .. I'm with you a/c, heat ,windows haha. Amazing how not having such basic things suck. Your 80 is very respectful I seen you drive it and pics over the years of where you have been .Id be proud of it too.. You built great machine why not take it to the next step when you buy a different rig for mild stuff? Thats what I'm doing with my white 80. Phase 1 is getting the Ls in and dialed. Phase 2 tons ,atlas, linked caged , Some body changes to suit it better for crawling and to minimize body damage. It will be just short of a buggy. I enjoy the red 80 I just built on 33 so much I don't think I'm going to sell it . Ruby is my new daily .. The white 80 is going to become a trailer queen but still street-able to drive to local trails.. The 80s ride and comfort has soiled me . As much as I love the 4x and 6x I have no desire to spent the day on leafs. With all due respect Sir the RCV Ultimate 300M 80 Series rear axles did not hit the market tell around 2019At that time they also started to offer the ultimate 300m fronts with a 30 spline outer upgrade. When I snapped there stranded fronts they gave me full current market value ( more then I paid ) towards a ultimate set I just paid the difference no tax or shipping and they were on my front porch in less the a week from sending the first E-mail
IMO they hold up pretty well but the big thing is they fully warranty them. I already reached out to them and the only thing the asked is which side I needed the long or the short.
Those rear axles have been in there since 2020 the hole time running 39s smashing trails like Pritcheet Canyon, Fordyce, Rubicon and countless trips to Moab, Sand hollow and Johnson Valley.
The thing is that I really Like wheeling the 80 when I role up to the Soup Bowl in the soccer Mom wagon I see people snickering and people ask your going to try it in thatthen when I one shot it there impressed and make a video of it called the Boss
A few years back a procured a 40 based tube buggy one tons and 42s, was it cool, was it Bad A** yes it was.

But it just was not the same people just expected it to make all the hard lines. when it got 100* out I could not turn on the AC, Yes I like the AC when it was super dusty I could not just role up the windows.
That and I'm going to be 67 this year ( going on 50) so currently looking for a clean old classic Cruise to hit the easier trails with.
But I'm not ready to give up the 80 or all it has to offer, I still want to hit the hard trails in it. IMO it has proven itself to be a contender !
Cheers
