Last thing I'm doing to the Cruiser before I head to CM.
I Fabbed up a mount for the new Element Fire Extinguisher, It's said to be the smallest & longest lasting extinguisher and safely and effectively puts out fires without the mess or toxicity.

Hole's where drilled and tapped into the mount for the mounting screws and it bolts the existing drivers seats bolts.

I thought the red paint was appropriate.

Element fire extinguishers are used by police, military and special forces groups around the world and are now available to the public !!

Now I need to get organized and packing for the long haul to Moab 880 miles one way, getting excited, planning to run trails for a week !!!
I have one in my 80. I mounted it with the provided clip and to the second row seatbelt mount, but it kept falling off. I just end up putting in the mesh behind the front driver's seat. Let me know how your setup works. I like that it is right below your seat.

When I ordered it I just went ahead and ordered a extra clip, one just seem like it wouldn't hold it.
I can say that it's in there nice and sung with two clips holding it, you don't want you fingers in there when you snap it place:p

Did you fab that bracket? I would like to do something similar. I don't have the ability to fab my own.

Yes out of 11/4" x 1/8" flat plate

One small Quickfist inwhich I mounted a small flashlight before the extinguisher.

Nice 👍🏽 I think I'll mount mine there too. It's just been sitting on the floor of the back seat.

I can't wait till @NLXTACY starts making his under the seat extinguisher mount again for the 80. (Hopefully if I mention it in different places, he'll do it 😋).

^ this...I put both my elements in the WIts End seat extinguisher mount along with my conventional FE.

I just made it out of stuff I had around the shop, hardware and paint included. Plus the satisfaction of making it myself, oh yeah no waiting :p

Nice mount! I've still been debating what to put in my rig. I almost pulled the trigger on those but watched this video and was very underwhelmed. Seems like the Element is not very useful outdoors unless you have perfect conditions. But it's better than no fire extinguisher I suppose and the size/portability is a big selling point. This would be a good backup IMO

He had reservations about the Element at first as he went for a re-strike.

I have been Carrying a traditional fire extinguisher it can be reached by the driver or passenger front seats.

I add the Element for it's non-toxic and cleaner approach to putting out fires.
There's no denying that the traditional fire extinguisher give a much more powerful initial burst, but it only last 9 to 12 seconds where the Element last 50 seconds.

I am in no way endorsing or promoting the Element extinguisher.
I would say that the comparison was pretty bogus in the video. with the traditional extinguisher the fireman is a half a step a way from the fire and leaning over when he pulls the trigger.
With the Element he's standing straight up and three steps away and off to the side 🤷‍♂️ then he steps in and leans over the fire. my guess is that it was payed for by Traditional fire extinguisher companies that don't want to lose business.

This video is probably leaning the other direction but give a lot of information about the product ;)

I have an Element in my 80 (as mentioned above), but in another video a guy pointed out that in a crash you could not use this with one hand as you could with a traditional extinguisher. Moreover, he pointed out that a passerby would likely not know how to use the Element if they came upon the scene and the driver was incapacitated. For me, I think the most likely use for 80 owners is going to be an engine fire. In the above with the fireman the fire was on the ground and it was windy. In an engine fire, the fire will likely be somewhat buffeted from the wind by the engine bay and the hood. I'm no expert on this, but this is my two cents.

Looks good enough for me.

EVERY time I've used one of my fire extinguishers was for somebody else. Twice the fire reflashed after I depleted my conventional extinguisher. Fortunately we were at the lake and hauled water in whatever we had to put it out. So I think having both types might be a good idea.

Yeah I think having both is a great idea. They both have their pros and cons. The video may not be a fair comparison but it does show what can happen in windy conditions. Ideally I'd like to run a larger unit, but mounting somewhere that's easily within reach during an emergency is a challenge. I don't like the idea of mounting it way out back for that reason.

Good video with an honest, informative presentation including a price to expect. My experience in fighting vehicle fires, this "Element" would have worked where my traditional FE plus another from the rental truck I was driving, did not do the job. 👍 I'll be getting at least one. Thanks for the suggestion and showing your mounting idea.

PS - if the Element can't extinguish the fire, you probably need professional help - like the FD ;)

I was doing some searching today and came across the Rusoh Eliminator. Quite intriguing, you can recharge it yourself and it's only pressurized when you need to use it.
