To add a little more, I recently rebuilt my front axle with some kit on ebay from New Zealand. Came with new cv joints or "birfields" as some choose to call them. I also bought a 7/32" gun drill which is just a fancy super long drill bit with one cutting edge.

Chucked the joints in my lathe and got to work. VERY SLOWLY. I did not want to break the fancy tool that was going to make my dreams come true

Instead of tapping each joint for a zerk I drilled out a bolt and put a zerk in said bolt which screws into the joints.

Voila! Greasable cv joints! No need for some fancy machinist!

To be honest I have zero experience with the Toyota solid axle. But the time came where I had to learn it. Even though I am a school bus mechanic now, I come from an industrial maintenance background. That means I'm a maintenance nazi!

So beneficial or not I wanted to do this. I already had the lathe and a gun drill was 20 bucks shipped to my door.

The go for it attitude is not always easy to maintain! There were several surprises in this build that tried to stop my progress. But thank you very much.

I'm glad people can look past the rust, Mad Max style, and horrid wiring all over. I eventually want a cherry rig just like the rest of you.

Ha thanks man. I have a hard time keeping my rig down and out for too long. It's a phobia of never getting it back on the road I suspect!

Gotten a little more done lately.

All glass removed, hung the doors from the ceiling, removed the tar compound on the floor, removed the head liner in 2 pieces and removed the coc#sucker POS ******* gas tank after draining the 18 gallons of old gas from it! That was a surprise, scrambling to find drain pans fast enough.

Got some metal work to do. I would like to do monstaliner like bluehawk did. EVERYWHERE.

Also plan to build a rotisserie after checking out bluehawk's build. That is the way to go! Found some free plans from redwing steel on the Web.

I sorta test fitted one of my new led taillights. I whipped this up in about 10 minutes because I just really wanted to see what this would look like. And I think I'll like them. I don't however like how far they stick out so I'll come up with a way later to recess them into the body.

Got most of the steel to build my rotisserie. I think it's gonna come in right around $350.

Fantastic, I am loving it. I have garage envy, mine is small and completely full of stuff.

What is your overall plan for the rig Adventure wagon? Weekend driver?

Nothing to be envious of here, the first pics are of where I work. That last pic is in my garage which is just a 2.5 car garage with many various engines transmissions and junk.

My plan for BOSSKLLA is family cruiser. I don't go off-road but my vehicles do the work I want them to. So the plan is function over form. I have 2 boys that will be more destructive as they age. Because of this I will paint my cruiser with Monstaliner or an equivalent.

Ive also found when you take a vehicle off road and beat on it, it doesn't drive as nice on road as it did before. So my cruiser will stay a pavement pounder. I'm happy with that.

Got some more done on my rotisserie. I made one about perfect then got going too fast on the second one. I think I'll have to make a whole new pivot point because this irks the s*** out of me!
