Hopefully the road will be open for this. Really looking forward to it. Thought I broke something at the ACC Fall Gathering this weekend, but everything seemed OK on the way home.

lol. Well at least it will get him where he needs to go. I like f150's

Agreed. As 1/2 ton trucks go, I'm on the fence between the Tundra and the F-150. Anything bigger than 1/2 ton and I'm strictly a Ford guy.

Is it a 4x4? Maybe he could bring it to Black Balsam…

I think it's 4x4. Crew cab and lifted. Its a nice truck but doesn't look like anything I would wheel.

It is tame. Few tricky spots for stock rigs. Pin striping galore.

Still debating on making this trip. Made it a few years ago and kids were miserable on the bald. If we are at the group camp that we did another year my odds of attending go up.

This is an "on your own" trip, laid back and nothing organized. Sometime Saturday we'll be driving the parkway, hopefully their will be some leaves left on the trees.

So, everyone doesn't camp together? The pictures I've seen from past years made it seem that you can kind of park wherever and set up camp in a group.

We camp together. Just no group meals other than Pisgah inne

I was just wondering the same thing!

Don't thinks so. Everyone will be stretched out coming in on friday. Saturday for lunch we go down to the pisgah inn and have lunch. Some people drive up to Mt MItchell from there and some will go back to camp. Most likely I'll go back to camp. Group dinner probably wouldn't be a good idea considering the possibility for wind. I've been there when there is no wind and I've been there when there was. Though having more vehicles means a better wind blocker.

There is a section up above the main area that a few people can camp that has shelter.

We usually have a backup plan just incase the road is closed. I don't know if chuck reserved that site.

Let's hope the road is open back up by then, apparently the group site has been reserved for some time now. If the NC guys have any other options on group camp sites let us know, all the individual sites are walk up and the hold a max of 8 people so their is also that possibility.

There is a good chance I may be out if we have to use walk in camp sites. I was planning to sleep in the truck and be riding solo. Not sure how far you park from the walk in sites?

Oh sorry Teddy, should of clarified, walk up means first come first serve. It's a drive in site so you could still sleep in your rig. Not actually having to walk to the site, if that were the case we'd never see Marshall, if he can't have his woowoo and buddy heater he wouldn't survive!

So is it safe to say that I could leave Charleston early Saturday morning and meet up with everyone at the Pisgah Inn at lunchtime? It doesn't sound like there will be much riding on Friday...

I pla. On going up friday sometime

Only problem with this is there is no cell service up there and there is no way to communicate. Friday night is a blast hanging around and shootin the bull and picking on Marshall...so come on up Friday and join the crowd.
