ummm, the rim size has nothing to do with over all tire size
so
how did you get 10% overdrive?

235-85 R16 or 265-75 R16 gives a 10% increase in distance traveled per wheel rotation compared with OEM 15" tires. Much greater selection in 16" tires at reasonable cost as well.

Note that 'overdrive' was in quotes.... details are important.

I had 15" tires with the same diameter on a Bronco and wasn't happy with the 'squishy' ride on the highway, I much prefer the 16s.

that explains your post better
rims alone make no difference
tire size, be it 15" or 16", is the rubber overdrive
and
1/2" extra rubber (1" / 2 = 1/2") will make no difference to handling or ride. the sidewall ply will.
i agree, there are more 16" "truck" tires (heavier sidewall) available.

My current tire/wheel combo has turned my stock 4.11 BJ74 into a 3.70 FJ60. I used an FJ60 drive and driven gear set up to correct the speedo. I am spot-on right now.

I got the FRP top back with the new headliner installed. Going to wait and put the trim pieces in until after the glass is installed, which should be later this week

TIRES QUESTION???

It looks as though I will be going with 15 inch tires. I am most likely going to go with the stock rims, which should be here this weekend. Looking for tire advice.

I will most likely go with 33 10.50 15 tires, because I want the height. It seems most like the Toyo or BFG Mud tires, but I am concerned about noise. I do like the aggressive look though! Another option is BFG All Terrains. Not as great of a look though. Don't plan to be offroad much, but I would like some sidewall strength so I do not have a squishy, ill handling truck.

Looking for advice. Not many choices in the size I want.

For what it's worth the BFG KM2s I'm running are not too noisy. I certainly can't hear them much over the 13BT.....

The headliner looks great by the way.

I will be paying close attention to the reinstall on the side windows. I want to learn all I can before I cut mine out and overhaul them.

Thanks for the KM2 info.

For the side windows, the reinstall will be anti climatic. They are already back together--just need to be glued in. I detailed the tear apart in an earlier post around 145?

The manual mentions something about a "sash clip" that appears to go all the way around the frame and it mentions using pliers to compress the butyl tape. Does the sash clip go in after the glass is glued in?

I got new KM2's on my BJ74 and am very happy with them. The 33x10.50x15's work well with the 3" lift.

I see what you mean on the sash, but I don't think that will be much of an issue. What the FSM is referring to is pushing the window in enough, IE compressing the sealant enough to get the finish strip to clip over it. If you don't have someone holding from the outside while you put the finish piece over the inside, it could be a chore. You may need to use a needle nose pliers to pull the window frame into the FRP top enough to get the finish trim over it.

I will let the glass man decide if you put the sealant on the FRP top, then put the window in, or put it on the window frame, and put it into the top. I would guess put it on the FRP top

Haven't been able to figure out the QUOTES part of the new site yet

Charlie, How is the ride and noise

I bought the BJ74 with BF Goodrich All-Terrain tires and while the KM2's produce slightly more noise the difference isn't significant. ( the 13B-T easily covers up the difference ) I also have no issues with the ride quality.

sealant goes on the FRP top first, small amount
then install the window against the sealant.

Well I found some 15X7 4 spoke rims like were original. (sorry---bad pic

Started off stripping the clearcoat off of them with paint and Varnish remover.

Then I glass beaded them with #8 glass bead. Real fine, but a pretty nice surface

Next I will do some polishing---see how that goes, then powdercoat with semi gloss clear
