You pretty much nailed it there. Did you use 1 1/5 spacers in the front also?. That is where I would want the tires

ps--nice old GMC in the background:)

1.5 all the way around.

That is a 1969 factory 396, 4 speed. After I finish the BJ74 I plan to start on that. It belongs to my wife, she has had it for over 25 years.

Nice---I have restored 2 of them--both big block 71 shortboxes. Sold them both :frown:

LMC Truck will become your best friend!

Here is the last one (hijacking my own thread!)

Figured out the Radio--finally.

ANYWAY---I got the hood and Grill in today. I was having a lot of trouble getting the hood aligned, and the gaps all right. I needed another 1/8 out of the right, and 1/8 less on the left, AND the hood forward only on the left

Finally, I decided the whole front end needed adjusting. I loosened the 2 front body mounts in the core support, and put a ratchet strap from the core on the left to the frame on the right. Cranked the crap out of it, but the gaps came together. Tightened the body mounts, and it stayed. I wasn't sure I could get it, since the truck is all together, but I did.

Now I need a little taller rubber hood supports. They are too short. Not sure why, but Not a big problem though.

Hers is a 3/4 ton SierraGrande. I want to keep the green, she wants a color change. Don't know how that is gonna shake out....

I have a ~30-year-old set of 16.5x9.75 5-slot aluminum Rocket wheels banked for it.

i found the hood supports from factory to be short with VERY little upward adjustment.
i ended up using bolts and adapting the rubber bumpers to fit.
looking REAL nice.
you going to keep this one?
or is the joy in the build but not the possession?

Yep--too short. Only had about a thread or 2 in the hole! I'll just grab some at NAPA and rethread them.
The plan today is I'm keeping this one. It will be my main driver. The FJ40 is the summer driver. The Camaro when I need to go fast.

"the Camaro for when i want to go fast"
I can't own a fast car, horsepower controls me - not me it.
and here, 50 kph over the speed limit and it is immediate loss of license, $10,000 fine AND the vehicle crushed ... not worth it.

All you Canuckstanians have going for you is a shortcut to obtain Cool Land Cruisers, superb Big Game Hunting and decent beer.......:flipoff2:

Oh, it's way too cold up there for only 80% of the year. :):)

If I could find a nice set of the vintage rims, or similar in 16" I would definitely go that way. 91 and 92 80 series were 16x8, i believe

Are they the original finish, or did you redu them. They do look nice!

My LJ78 had the same rims so perhaps some of the Canadian MUD members can help you source a set.

Since I put the ARB bumper on with the factory PTO winch, I have to make a plate for the bumper to cover the winch (and protect it.

I mocked this up. It will be pretty easy to make. I can have the metal shop bend the center section, and the 2 end sections separately. Then I can put the vertical filler pieces in each end, and weld it together. The ends will be held up by the tow hooks that were mounted there. I will tap holes in the ARB and bolt it across the front

What do you think?

In Southern Georgia we would simply leave the cardboard and duct tape. :D

You had all the cool rides!! (and still do!)

The LJ78 is cool right up to the point where it overheats and cracks the head. :D

Bumper add on looks good but is it possible to slope the front vertical piece of cardboard a little more? Just makes for a little nicer approach. Other then that I would add a few drain holes in the bottom so it can drain better

When your Cruiser was in this configuration ( sore lip bumper and factory p.t.o. winch ) did it not have a protective plate underneath the winch?

Can't get much slope there because of the gear box hanging down there. Pretty much has to be vertical
