that was the only reason i bought autometer as they had a style that looks just like the factory gauges, and especially at night when you dont really want light contrast happening in your vision

check these out too.. map lights, you can get them in red too for night time

Oh I like that, how did you install it? Any pics?

right in the dash for the white gooseneck map light, and the flush one in the blank beside the stereo, pooling red light own onto the floor area where my cup holders are

Right on, I don't know why I didn't think of these. All the SAR trucks and even the boats and SxS had these and they were so handy!
Found a decent red/white USB one from my boy Jeff B that can plug into a cigarette adapter. If I like it maybe something fancier will get hardwired.

ah ya, never seen usb ones

Took the cruiser to a nice spot where the dogs could run around. Noticed a small red spot in the snow, of course the only hose clamps I forgot to replace started weeping. Luckily I had some spares in the repair kit. Oem are ordered

Some yahoos decided to follow my tracks in their Hyundai Tucson… It had been really warm the past few weeks with a bit of rain and then got cold and dumped a foot of snow so there wasn’t much traction even out of the deep stuff. Winched them out and then used the traction boards to get them turned around.

The crux was a 400’ long hill that was fairly steep, I didn’t think we’d be able to pull them up but front and rear lockers and full send we made it 😅 They flipped me $100 which was really generous.

I should probably find some chains for these tires if they’re going to be my winter wheeling setup.

Were you airing up 2 tires at a time or 4?
I was thinking of getting hoses to do 2 at a time.
I think the extra volume in 2 hoses would ease the strain on the compressor.

I'm doing all 4 tires at once, super easy to inflate and deflate. Depends of your output, mine does 5 CFM @ 40 psi so the manufacturer recommends filling 2 or 4 at a time

Mine's about half that output.
I was thinking 2 air lines is like having a bigger diameter single line which is easier for the compressor to jam air through.

The choke-point is probably going to be the valve stems unless you upgrade to some fancy high flow sh!t. 4 at a time is just less fiddly but 2 would work no doubt.

yeah, the schraders. I want to maximize airflow and minimize amount of air hose that I have to store in a box or bag.

The dogs are enjoying having the adventure-mobile back. Put the sleeves back on the dash bulbs and the colour is very close to the gauges, might turn the brightness down a notch or two and it should be perfect

Couple of detailed shots for mounting of the RedArc thermo temp sender, required me to open up the hole it the ps mount by 1/8” +-
Lower housing is 16333-58080, which has the extra hole, also the flanges are 5mm thicker so new studs are required.

Pretty stoked about how it turned out.

The rear storage is getting there, couple of drawer faces left and it should be done.

The main reason I decided to build my own instead of buy is that I wanted to be able to open the left drawer with only the small ambo door open.

Takes about 20 minutes to go from full camping setup with the sleeping platform, stove/fridge slide and cage to this. Pretty stoked!

Did a deep dive into the oem fog light switch and wiring harness. It helped having an entire wiring harness to lay out on the floor and figure out continuity, I don’t think I would have figured it out without it.

Step one check the book, having a paper copy is so much easier.

Step two confirm continuity of green-black wire from tail fuse to fog switch plug. ✅

Step three locate L/R fog light plug in engine bay (circled in red, headlight plug circled in green for reference) (it’s a BJ74 so remove half the engine bay to do anything in situ 😅 )

Confirm continuity of red-black from fog switch to plug in engine bay, nope..

The FSM doesn’t mention the 74 so maybe that’s why it doesn’t match.

Proceed to chase the red/black wire from the fog switch plug, it dies at the connection from the sub harness to the main harness. Weird. (Circled red where the red/black wire terminated and in green where the pin is missing in the opposite connector)

IMG_8423.webp

Going the other direction from the fog light plug by the headlights the red/black wire terminates at this 2 pin connector beside the fuse box. The other wire in that connector green/black (same colour as the feed from the tail fuse for the fog light switch) check continuity and BINGO. Same feed wire as the fog switch.

My best guess is when the fog lights were factory installed there was a sub harness/relay that connected this 2 wire plug to the trigger wire from the dash switch.

Not sure if somebody has any further info on this but it should be easy enough to replicate.

Maybe somebody else will find this information useful or interesting.

Prepped and repainted the ARB with some raptor liner, I really like the satin black with texture. Now I have to track down a new ARB badge and some 24v turn signals or some fog lights that fit the cutout.

Put the factory tow hooks on but they don’t fit facing upwards and look a bit silly facing down. Can’t find any better options for a recovery point on these bumpers, anyone have ideas?

Had a look at the front wheel bearings, re-greased and made a note of anything worth replacing for some future front axle love. Did the valve clearances as well, she purrs like a kitten. Ready for my road trip to the Okanagan.

Trail Tailor has several options for tow points. They also have some 70 series specific ones but state they won’t fit the ARB’s with a cross member. I have an ARB too and will have to see if I have this crossbar or not. I’ve put the link below to their website:

EDIT: I just ordered the Aluminum tow points from @TRAIL TAILOR . I’ll post up some pictures once I have them mounted on my 75 with the ARB bumper.

Cheers, James
