Dredging up an old thread. That windshield took a rock hit today and while it did maintain its shape, Ratpuke said it was pretty hard to drive the 60 or so miles home. Toyota is backordered so we'll try to flex in a piece of plexiglass for the time being.

My windshield installer was asking if we need anything else, other than the windshield. He was pointing at the rubber / metal pieces going around. Does anybody have any intel on that?

Did spot some rust and will discuss if they have any options with that. I wonder if anybody bought this instead of cleaning up rust. Windshield Frame Fold down type 70,71,73,74 & 75 series all year [56301-90K19] - $797.49 : CruiserParts, The best place for Land Cruiser Parts! - https://shop.cruiserparts.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=112_333_340&products_id=2317New weatherstrip is a must, IMHO.
You should also make your installer aware that there needs to go mastic sealer between the weatherstrip outer lip and the frame. See maintenance manual. The process is pretty well described there.
If your windshield is factory, still, there will be mastic sealer on the weatherstrip and it will not be reusable anyway because of that.
Also expect some minor rust on the frame that should be treated. Some installers are unwilling to do any 'bodywork'. Talk to them and make a plan on this. Good luck Ralf
