test fitting the 3b ac bracket and 3b/wonderwagon pulley

Thanks Ishobie for this rare 3b ac bracket.

My bj never had ac.

The 62 compressor is a direct fit in the bracket.

I will have to relocate my oil pressure sending unit.

The bracket interfers with it.

I will need to fab up a tensioner for the new ac belt.

holy crap progress....

Nice work man,

you should have swung over last Saturday... (to the Hippies house)

Very nice. Where did you get that nice outputshaft stakenut and washer?
Tonight: haggis, fava beans and foia gras. Sandi wanted to make her famous Duck Butt Stew, but I thought you might like a more traditional dish.

Great documentation of the TC rebuild. Getting those bearings off without a press was a challenge! Looking good. Glad to see the diesel turboed, I don't think diesels are much fun without one.

The local Toyota dealer, Gatorland, can get most standard FJ60 parts....

on the same day, if ordered by 9am.

There is never a shipping charge at the local dealer.

There must be a big Toyota parts center in JAX or ORLANDO.

I get a 20% discount from the parts counter.

They have bj and hj parts listed in their system.

They are able to get most any thing for a bj/hj.

These parts come from California and take a week.

They weren't so helpful with bj74 parts though. (turbo manifold)

Hmmm. I tried to get some 2H gaskets and they said "nope, not in our system". Maybe they like you better...

Myhj60sheila- B try using your vin number to order parts.....
ask for Pat or Matt...... they have been there almost 20 combined years

mellow it is coming together well. how far out are you on the actual trasnplant?

Clint-

I hope to set the engine in this weekend.

I need to change the rear seal and inspect the clutch, before I fit the 3b. (thx for the seal B)

I am installing the engine and then the transmission/transfer case.

I picked up new motor mounts today.

The parts guy double checked the part numbers and assured me this is what a 81 bj60 listed.

Toyota is constantly improving part designs, and replacement parts.

These look to have been re-engineered/ upgraded.

Pretty cool of Toyota! What other manufacture does that?

Oddly enough BOTH the new mounts are marked with a big "R".

Gunnar has a press at the shop. He pressed the new bearings for me. I could not have done the job w/o Gunnar and his press.

If you wrench any night starting tonight (8 pm or later) night, I am down to distract, annoy and waste your time in general. Let me know...

I'll post up a pic of the used rusty mounts, they probally could have been re used.

Since everything was apart, I thought it would be a good time to replace them.

The parts counter guy gives me a 20% discount. (I'm a small town frequent customer)

My total came to $147 for both mounts, 2 lock washers and 2 nuts.

The parts guy ordered the nuts and lock washers seperately.

They did not come on the mounts.

Thanks .. ! it sound fair coz I really can get here aftermarket ones for 20 bucks .. but only last one trail ( at much ) and broke..

I decide my unique option was the Toyota ones and security chain for my driver side motor mount ..

If ya plan on wheeling....cut the stud off, drill a hole all the way thru it and use a bolt....Just for the drivers side.

There was a lot of silcone, instead of a gasket, on the rear main seal housing.

I installed a new gasket and rear main seal.

I did not use any silicone.

The blue silicone reminants will be gone, when I do a pan gasket.

I am gonna wait untill the engine is mounted before pulling the pan.

Frank is welding a bung in it for the turbo oil return line.

The po had a clutch job done, just before I aquired the bj.

The teq clutch looks good.

Although not teq, the pressure plate looks good as well.

I am taking the flywheel to the machine shop for resurfacing.

I am not replacing the pilot bearing..... it is in great shape.

I am gonna put a new throw out bearing in though.
