radiator skid plate - (painted rustoluem smoke not hammered silver)
core support center
hood rod
spare hood

To avoid scratches, the silver hood has been tucked away at home.

I'll swap the hoods when I get the rig finsihed.

Cleaning and Painting parts


Wal-mart has brass wire brushes 3 for $0.99.


They are great for cleaning parts.

I am still, "on the fence", about what color to paint the shroud.



I purchased some Dayco Gen 2 fuel lines for the project.

This fuel line is designed to carry methanol, a key ingredient in bio diesel. (see sig)

The inner lining, (#1) of the Dayco hose, is made of Dupont Viton.

The Dayco gen 2 hose is less expensive than 100% Viton lines.

I purchased the boot and slave from Gatorland TOYOTA.

The parts guys there are 1st class.

They have come thru again with the bj specific service parts.


The master is a refurb from ebay.

I ran one on my 40 with great sucess.

edit- I replaced the oem soft/hard line with a steel braided -3an line

The diesel requires a different filler neck for fueling.

I take your statement as a great compliment.

I can't count the number of times others have said how I ruined the 62 by converting it to a bj.

I am enjoying piecing together my rig......

I consider myslef a novice.

In a free market, consumers demand top notch work for their dollar.

Although it is good enough for me,

my "Restoluem Restoration" wouldn't cut it as a "Profe$$ional" job......
