Looking for a garrett turbo but wondering what I would yank it from. Any idea? I have a 1981 BJ60

I am running one from a 85 300 Mercedes. Volvos, Ford 2.3s and Chrysler Labarons also have t3s.

Picked up the some new glow plugs on ebay.

ONLY $6 each

They were so CHEAP, I got 2 sets.

eBay Store - Horsepower and More: Toyota: 96-99 Toyota Camry Celica RAV Oxygen Sensor

The plugs were labeled in the auction as Beck Arnley 1761054 10.5v.

The plugs are manufactured by HKT of Japan. (part# pt-145)

Other sellers have the exact same plugs on ebay for as much as $17 each.

eBay Store - Krazy Kritters: Diesel Injection: GLOW PLUG SET TOYOTA SURF 2LTE 2.4 litre DIESEL

In this case, it definitely paid to shop around.

Knuckle/ Brake job finished.

The disassembly / cleaning is a pain, but once that is done,

it is a piece of cake to put everything back together.

During the rebuild I realized I need to rebuild one of my hubs.

One hub is damaged (yellow) allowing sideways movement. (pink)

Not too sure what would cause this.

How much play does it have .. ?

There is more play than there should be....

It wobbles a lot compared to the other side.

I'll post some pics damaged innards.

I ended up buying another set of hubs.

Along with them, came a quite a few other parts.........

Parts I previously had, then sold.

I should have waited to part my red bj until the project was finished.

Live and learn.

I now have a fj for parts/trail rig.

The dash is back in...... sorta.

Frank still has some wiring to do.

The down pipe is installed on the turbo.

I will definitely be adding heat shields for thermal protection.

The entire exhaust will be a 2.5" system.

I installed 4 new glow plugs.

The rebuilt injectors were also installed, although

I need a deep 27mm socket to torque em down.

It is good to have friends with tools.

Very awesome man, I bet you are stoked. Whats the ETA on getting it on the road.

If you need help getting you other rig trail ready just say the word.

Installed new tres from Toyota.

All four came with a new rods, so I have an extra set.

I did not upgrade to the 89+ tr and tres.

They were almost double in price, and this rig won't see ANY trail use.

The exhaust is set in place with temporary hangers.

Frank is hanging the entire system with custom hangers and rubber dough nuts.

I will post some pics later of the final product, once he finishes.

I have been w/o a running cruiser for 13 months!

That will all be changing soon.

Definately an advantage of the 2H it's the driver side exhaust ( LHD ) coz you don't have to deal with t-case or DS ..

Did you think a bit in the temp of the exhaust on the rear tire .. ?

I'm one step to place my exhaust end at the same point ( little lower maybe pointing to the road ) in my 80 series .. just a little concern in the exhaust temp on the tire ..

A lot has gone on in the last year.

I have:

been keeping my small business going
moved 3 times
shopped for/ bought my 1st house
visited ailing relatives
buried my grand dad
had my 1st baby

There were a few months I didn't work on the cruiser at all.

I have a $350 monthly budget set aside for the rig.

I am just under $6k total thus far.

This includes 2 used trucks and 2 gallons of Rustoleum.

I hope to be on the road for under $7k total.

I still need to pay Frank and Gunnar. Fortunately, they give me friendly prices.

I could not have done it w/o their help.

My wife & I are expecting our 1st, any day now.

I hope to drive her and the new baby home in "the family cruiser".

There is a mini parked behind my junk.
It rolls on half dubs i.e. 10's.
I'm glad it is there, it makes the cruiser harder to steal.

Anyone else on board like LUCAS products?

If it melts the tire, I will have to reroute it.

He isn't finished and may be adding a turn down

Since he is the expert, I don't question his work.

I went from no exhaust to custom exhaust, so I am pleased/grateful with the results.

I was concerned that the fuel rail is on the otherside of the frame.

Frank wasn't though, so that eased my worries.
