The 60 transmission cover is a different shape than the 62's and isn't a bolt on.

I cut a hole in the 62 transmission cover for the h42 shifter.

I reused the boots from the bj for the shifters.

I installed new speedo gear and sleeve/ housing.

According to the instructions included with the housing, the foam donut isn't to be used.

Could it hurt/help to have placed the foam piece in style A housing?

I left it out b/c the instructions said so.

Where are they? Got a picture or two, and maybe thread specs? I'm about to do the turbo thing...

thread is bspt.

You can see the oil galley and the 4 plugs fairly easily if you know what to look for.

The galley is raised from the block.

Look closely one of the plugs is being pointed out by the yellow arrow.

There are a few more on the other side of the oil cooler.

One should have your oil pressure sending unit in it.

It will make sense once you are looking at the 3b.

I tee'd my oil feed line from the sending unit, but would dedicate a specific line if I were to do it again.

Here are a few additional pics of the 3bt in the 62.

Note 62 ac compressor on 3b ac brakcet in 2nd pic.

If all goes as planned, the dash/ wiring should be done this weekend.

I will prob pull the ac evaporator case before the dash is replaced.

While the dash and harness are out, it never will be easier than now to insulate/ sound deaden the firewall from the passenger compartment.

I need to bleed the brakes and repair a rear wheel cylinder.

I also need to hook up the custom ps.

Once the steering column is back in, it will be towed to the muffler shop for a complete exhaust system.

I am a little concerned how close the firewall/ heater valve is going to be to the down pipe.

I am toying with a few ideas:

header wrap
relocate heater valve
turbo blanket
heat shields
x insulation on passenger side of fire wall

The less nvh and heat the better.

Not much left to do to get on the road again, although the mods will never stop.

My friend Jimmy, gave me a roll of butyl rubber backed sound deadener foil.

He explained not to use ANY sound deadener that has asphalt as backing.

The asphalt smell will linger forever, especially in hot weather.

The butyl smells like new tennis shoes.

I pulled the evaporator and went to town with the deadener.

I'm glad to have gotten this done while the dash was out.

Oh, I see how it is, you got to drive Sheila, but there's no reciprocity? I even offered to let you drive in the Alpha Pit (where there was a reasonable chance of her getting damaged no matter who was driving). Plus, you know first hand that I can drive...

By the way, are you throwing carpet back in there? I was able to confirm from both Rhinoliner and Line-X installers that you can absolutely have either product sprayed over a mushy sound deadener with no problem...if you want to go that route.

Lastly, aside from cutting the hole for the shifter, did you have to modify the transfercase shifter hole? Seems to me that I might have to elongate mine as the original transfercase shifter mated to the A440 does not come through the floor in the same spot as with either the H41/42 or the H55F.

Thats after we put wooden blocks on the pedals for you :D

You should not have to modify the hole in the floor. I did not have to, if it does end up hitting you can notch and bend the shifter to work. I can then weld the notch for you.

Few questions, does this guy make an adaptor that will for for a 2f? Also, i'm guesing your using a internal wastegate. Who's number is the one you provided. Thanks.

My Mercedes Garrett Turbo has an internal waste gate.

The number provided is the turbo shop "jgs tools".

JGS Precision Turbo

They may be able to make an adapter for a 2f.

The adapter I used, is made to adapt a Garret turbo, to an oem Turbo Supra flange. (thanks brownbear)

The Supra and the 3bt manifold have the same footprint, allowing it to work.

I had too seek out a turbo manifold for my 3b. (ebi cruiser parts)

I used an oem piece off a 3bt.

The liners look almost new, so I am reusing them.

New cylinders should eliminate any leaks. They are beefier than the ones being replaced.

As you may have guessed, the drums are getting the Rustoleum prime/ paint treatment before they are reinstalled.

I am still on my first gallon of primer and gloss black.
