I would keep the fender bars welded on until you fill in the metal for the body work. Once that's filled in I'd cut the lower piece off the frame and back until it looks right/blends in with the body work. Having a tube like that as the fender rim is already going to strengthen the fenders. Frames flex and bodies flex when going over stuff so yes there would probably be damage of some kind if it's left solidly mounted to the frame. Sheet metal work is not the most fun and it'd be sad to see some weld crack or metal wavy after a few wheeling jaunts.

Snow, I'm with Boots. Solid welds to frame and body will eventually fail. So, as he recommended I concur, do the work and then cut the welded areas for flex relief for future FUN!... Gonna be a interesting look.. I'm intrigued with this idea!

Well, I may do that but my latest thought is building the fender using the bars as a guide but keep them floating off the body but I am not sure yet. That way I can tie my sliders in.

Woulda been working on it but nicks 22r blew a head gasket so we have been having fun with that lately :) He is all good to go now though. Thanks for the inpute guys, I woulda been pissed once I was done only to realize my mistake!

My experience with this my POS mower. The Stiner mower I have they put the kabota diesel on rubber engine mounts then just bolted the muffler right to the side. I had to weld the exhaust or the muffler mount on a weekly basis, I cursed the engineers that designed it to die a slow and painful death or better yet make them work on it. :beer:

What boots said. Keep em welded, finish the metal work then cut em loose. Then smooth em out with some filler and will look slick. I just bought a 62 and the rear quarters are totally gone, will like to see how yours turn out and maybe try on mine. Did you bend the tubing with a tubing bender?

Here is some porn... ok maybe just softcore haha

Put a nasty dent in her, YAY! that was fun, only one to make it through that little section of the trail hahaha.
Got some bigger spacers of the rear one, not enough though, going to go 1/2" more. Pounded the dent out (you will have to wait for after shots) fitted a new bosch priming pump, and rotated a spare tire into the mix... wow how lame. I guess I am just getting back into the saddle lol.

Even though it looks like it, this was not the tree that got me...

Here is a little update and some shots of the family since its been so long. We have our second due in June! We finally moved back to the country, Thank God. I can only take so much of the city. Unfortunately its not our own place yet but we are loving it. Cash loves it here, one of his favorite things to do is watch the "mooooo cows"

Here is Cash, momma and baby

Little bro found these right out in the back field

Still Cashus's absolute fav though is "drive? drive?" He wants to drive anything and everything, bikes, scooters, wagons, powerwheels, the truck.

Some goodies came in the mail today! you guys know whats next. I also picked up this bad boy from the laser cutters. All the parts should trickle in throughout this week, I cant wait.

Ah ha ! I smell a turbo !!!!!:bounce2::bounce2:

Got to work today, built the manifold and got it mocked up. I need to add the oil return and figure the intake out tomorrow and I am done.
I need to resurface the manifold do you guys think its ok to do that on my belt sander? Its big enough.
I have clocked the turbo since these photos.
