Greetings all,

I have lowered the price on my BJ to $13,000. Check out the CL listing:

1981 Toyota Landcruiser BJ44

It does have some rust which I have tried to represent as honestly as I can in the photos. Would be best for whoever gets it to see it in person first. Don't really want to put it on Ebay so hopefully it can find a good home.

Cheers!

Going to ebay???

I have never sold a rig on Ebay but I might be heading there with this one. I would rather it go to somebody here - $12K and she is your yours.

Mudders - I need some input on my rig. Is the price too high? Is it too rusty? I am borderline on keeping it but I honestly don't have the room to do it right. Anyway I look at it I will be taking a bath on it. I am still pondering ebay but would rather have somebody see it in person before taking it on. It will be a project - there is no doubt about it. I have tried to be as honest as I can. Any input would be greatly appreciated...

Honestly, it looks like there is a lot of rust on the vehicle, that's a ton of work. I would say you are priced double of what it's worth, at least to someone that knows what they're looking at. Just my opinion. I've been known to be wrong plenty of times before though!!

x2 on the excessive rust.

Despite the rarity and relative good condition of the remainder of the vehicle, a rusted frame will always win out.

I think that if you plan on actually moving this rig, you will likely take a pretty big loss. If you are truly dedicated to turning a profit you may find that parting it out draws a larger audience... Toyota diesel components are hard to come by in the states.

If you like body work, I say keep it, with enough time effort and money this thing could be great.

Like rfj62, I have been wrong before, however so this is all merely opinion/speculation.

Best of luck with whatever you decide to do.

The frame and body are likely throw away- drive it until the seats fall thru the floor or engine/drivetrain falls from the frame.

Not worth the time and effort to save this one imho. Although the exterior shots look okay- its just a topcoat of fresh paint that is likely loaded with cancer underneath.

If it were just the body that was trashed- id say hold onto it and fix the body...........but the frame/crossmembers is an entirely different project that typically merits starting from scratch with something clean and salvaging your drivetrain and few good parts to a complementary vehicle.

Body is definitely rusty but I think you are confusing some of the body supports for the actual frame. The frame looks pretty solid to me on this rig.

Yes your price is high I have a 44 also with less rust issues than yours and would only list mine in the 8k range, your frame and drivetrain look solid which is a bonus but replacement tubs are next to impossible to find, the rest of the body parts are same as any 40 of that year.
The 44 is a great vehicle compared to a 40 hands down IMO I wished I had a few more to play with.

Good luck just hang in there with your listings you may have to take a loss if you are determined to sell

I knew I was going to take a loss before I even started - that is just the way it is. I paid too much for it initially. Another reason to never buy a rig unless you can see it in person. For that reason I am avoiding Ebay...

Hadn't thought about parting it out but I would hate to see it come to that. Also I don't have the space or time to strip it down.

$10K on Mud is the bottom line if anybody is interested. I will run it till the end of summer and then find a place to store it until I can take it apart.

Cheers
