When I was out there last month the only people I saw were at the ranger station in the park that is fake open. It was like chatting at the water cooler. Everybody getting on wifi checking in with family and trying to get more permits online.
The other odd thing that made me laugh was when I got my permit I was told “Since you are solo here’s the sheriff office number. If you have to dial 911 it will call Mexico. Then you will need to have them call the Sheriff for you.”

Made it home safely. Managed to blow out my boost gauge when overtaking a truck. Got it to 55psi and then it just died. The aluminum foil fix held for the 500 miles back. I will however replace it with thicker sheets for better insurance.

In all it was a great trip. And now some random pictures, probably the last ones for this year.

Halfway home. Stopped for a break. So far that trail fix has held well.

Man I can't imagine hitting 101 in mine. At 90 I just think to myself "Ok 90 mph and 6200 lbs of solid steal ass is going to take how much to stop? ........ ......... ........ .......... ......... F$^$ I HATE MATH. Ok then this is fast enough." Well I say this as I am getting ready to start tuning the pump, injectors and turbo.

It's surprisingly smooth and stable. I couldn't tell how fast I'm going unless I'm looking at the GPS. I can definitely tell in the Tacoma once I go over 75mph.

Was sitting at home minding my own business when this new to me rig showed up.
Chevy 350 engine. Nv4500. Orion transfer case and a few more upgrades. Sat on 44 inch tires which we had to swap out to get it to fit in the backyard.

The neighbors are NOT impressed!!

Got some things delivered. 17 inch aluminum beadlock wheels. Black on black. The tires i want to go with are out of stock nationwide. So I'll have to wait.

Wrapping up work at the Superbowl and heading back to Austin. I just wanted to post up a few pics and say thanks to @davegonz for the museum suggestion. I saw one of my all time favorite cars the legendary Yellowbird and one the F1 cars that my favorite driver Michael Schumacher raced in. Anyway, enjoy the pics.
